PPK Architects has been serving our clients and their needs since 1951. PPK has designed completed projects throughout the United States and Europe including both commercial and residential developments — large and small scale. Craig R. Pryde, AIA LEED AP and David M. Kennedy, AIA LEED AP are the principals and have over 50 years of combined experience in programming, design and construction management. Both principals have diverse design backgrounds that benefit all of our clients and their projects. PPK has excelled in serving our clients and responding to the challenge of each project type and requirements. Their leadership and organization skills benefit project teams and consultants in thoroughly coordinating project documents which leads to excellent bid results and reduced change orders during construction. PPK has designed a variety of project types focusing on the needs of the client rather than a particular project market. This philosophy has contributed to better design in all of our projects. Craig R. Pryde, AIA, LEED AP Principal Mr. Pryde is a principal of Perkins Pryde+ Kennedy Architects since joining the firm in 1988. Mr. Pryde is responsible for client development, project design and planning, and firm management Mr. Pryde has been involved in project masterplan de-velopment, planning and feasibility studies and de-signed several project types over the years that involve new construction and the renovation and/or expansion of existing structures including historical structures and single family homes. Building functionality and efficien-cy are key components to all projects. Mr. Pryde is accredited as LEED Professional and has practiced sustainable design on all projects for several years. PPKS is committed to the use of sustainable materials and systems for the benefit of our clients and their clients. Mr. Pryde has many years experience in assisting cli-ents gain zoning approval and has presented several projects to public commissions and boards for approval for the benefit of our clients projects. PPKS utilizes the latest computer software and visualization tools to as-sist in this process and can produce this information in-house with PPKS staff. David M. Kennedy, AIA LEED AP Principal Mr. Kennedy is a principal of Perkins Pryde + Kennedy Architects since joining the firm in 1992. Mr. Kennedy is responsible for client development, project planning and design and firm management. Mr. Kennedy’s project experience includes large scale master plan development and project planning. Since joining PPK he has also designed several large scale multi-family residential and mixed use projects as well as other commercial projects. Mr. Kennedy has also designed several single family residential projects and participated in the planning of residential community developments. Mr. Kennedy’s has a vast amount of experience in site selection, analysis and site planning. His experience in Planned Unit Development and zoning entitlement process has allowed him to develop excellent methods for presenting projects for approval by local governments and agencies. Private Residence Duneland Beach, Indiana

PPK Architects designed this new three story vacation home on a sloping site in northwestern Indiana. The site elevation change of about forty feet called for a creative architectural and structural solution. The garage roof is used as a screen porch, with a green roof on the top of the porch. Many sustainable design features were incorpo-rated into the home, including the used of recycled materi-als, woods, and an energy efficient HVA/C system. The upper level takes advantage of distant views of Lake Michigan to the west.

Glencoe Residence Glencoe, Illinois

This indoor pool and family room addition is uniquely situ-ated adjacent to a wooden ravine and is designed to take full dvantage of natural light and beauty. The use of chan-nel glass provides privacy without sacrificing light. The green roof reduces heat load and water run off. North East Illinois Chapter/ American institute of Architects design award.

Davis Residence Glen Ellyn, Illinois

This custom residence is a reflection of the historic archi-tecture of the Glen Ellyn Community. The craftsman style home features an expansive front porch creating a warm and inviting entry to the 4,300 sf three story residence. The design features 4 bedrooms, including a Master Suite on the second floor and a Guest bedroom on the walk-out lower level. Interior woodwork and details reflect the craftsman style of the exterior and enhance the living envi-ronment.


Michigan Vacation Home Lakeside, Michigan

The planning concept was to focus all attention on the wonderful views of the lake. A generous central spine was created from the front of the home to the rear. This pro-vided a dramatic view of the lake from the moment one stepps into the home. An open circulation plan was used on the first floor for family gatherings as well as providing views of the lake from the most remote spaces. A large deck on the first floor and a shared deck off the bedrooms on the second floor were provided to further enjoy the ex-perience of this site. This design is strongly influenced by the craftsmen style, with a combination of shingle and horizontal siding, heavy corner boards, ornamental gable decoration, and a natural stone base.


Oak Brook Residence Oak Brook, Illinois

PPK design this majestic renovation using the natural sloping grade to make full use of the lower level. The activity room, fitness room, and informal kitchen all face the pool terrace to the south on the lower level. A limestone terrace connects all rooms of the first floor with the ex-terior and provided an elegant view of surround-ing landscape.


Swamy Residence Lisle, Illinois

The planning concept was to allow the central circula-tion spine of the home to generate the form and this axis leads to the landscaped rear yard. The family also wanted a small shrine to allow for their faith worship. This was a very important part of the house and is located in the center of the second floor gallery. The selection of materials was dictated by the Owner’s desire for a contemporary home. The methods of con-struction were conventional even though the design called for large flat roofs and long spans.


Private Residence Elmhurst, Illinois

This residence was designed for a client interested in a modern, open plan. The design includes a multi-story Great Room and open stair as the central feature in the home. The design has several sustainable features such as local materials and geo-thermal heating system is being consid-ered.


Barone Residence Glen Ellyn, Illinois

PPK expanded this 1970 standard colonial residence to include a new great room/kitchen wing and new master bedroom suite above the garage. The blending of shingle siding and stone base with a steep roof slope and arched windows make this home a neighborhood landmark of quality architecture.

This late 1800’s home was originally designed to face an-other street to the rear .PPK re-designed the interior layout and addition to the new front of the home as well as the new garage. The charm and detail of a Dutch colonial farm house was brought back to the original home.

PPK re-designed this ranch home on a steep terraced hill to incorporate a lower level garage. Terraced entry and the curved roof porch. The multiple roof forms add interest and help reduce the visual impact of the over all height. Design consistency on all sides of the home are a trademark of PPK projects such as this one.

Glen Ellyn Historical Residences

The Glen Ellyn Historical Society recognizes historically significant homes in the Glen Ellyn Community and it’s 200+ year history. PPK Architects has completed several renovations and expansion projects on these historical homes in a manner consistent with the original architecture. PPK Architects has also completed projects on similar residences of historical styles.
