• 183 in 2011, 2012: 155 with highest applicants in PL (64)

Highest number of incoming students (recruited)

• 1st year = 103 in 2012, 102 in 2011 and 101 in 2009

Record high: students pay their own tuition fee

• Students pay full (46%) > Full scholarship (24%) (2011)

• In 2012, 76% pay their own tuition fee (full and partial)

compared to 24% PPC full supported (even with new

tuition fee)

Record high average GPA of incoming students:

• 3.25 (2010), 3.1 (2011)*, 3.13 (2012)*

We survived the three disasters occurred: in 2009 (red

shirts/bomb), 2010 (red shirts closed Siam Square and

Chula area) and last year 2011 (mega flood).

In 2010, PPC was rank 1st with Excellent Score in

Material Science & Technology and Mining, Material &

Multidisciplinary Engineering by TRF.

In 2010, 2 National Research Scientist Awards (SWB/PS)

• 2 of 6 Awards Chula got from total 9 of the whole country

and 1 Young Scientist Award (TS) from NRC

• 1 of 3 for the whole country

2012, L’Oreal Award (HM) presented by Nobel laureate

Sky-rocket number of National and International awards

for PPC faculty, staff & students:

• started from 10 awards in 2009 to 15 in 2010, 23 in 2011

and 16 in 2012 (still only half year…)



Securing 2 big research grants worth >US$1.5 million

through collaborations with Thai Oil (2nd 2011-2014)

and PTTAR (1st 2010-2014)

Acquiring 3 floors (5/6/7) in the new building (Chula

Research Building) – start using this year 2012

Additional area in 1st floor for collaboration instrument

centers with Bruker (NMR) and Shimadzu (XPS) “Free”

(through a smart negotiation with the university)
