PROJECT PROPOSAL :-
My project is related to an upcoming technology. This is to use visually
recognized hand gestures that requires reasonably accurate
segmentation (separation of the pixels showing the hand in a picture,
so that later, we can see the shape of the hand, and hence its gesture)
for giving instructions.
This requires to have an approximate idea of the colour of the human
hand. There are generalized skin models available, that uses a sort of
average human skin colour for detection, but it would be better to use
a tighter approximation, of the hand colour, for the individual's own
specific skin.
I will try to use a face detector to detect human faces in the scene first.
These detector codes are readily available. Once a face is detected, we
look a little lower to find the hands. I will use the colour of the skin just
picked up to find the similar coloured pixels in the neighbourhood.
Finally, I would like a comparison of these two approaches to establish
that my technique is actually better.
