Enlightening, Entertaining and Electrifying - IIT-B’s ‘Techfest 2020’Day one of the fest also saw some

extremely innovative exhibitions with the AeroHans, India's first electric vertical take-off and landing Air Taxi, EsoGlove one of the world's lightest hand rehabilitation and exoskeleton devices and the NHK enterprises Virtual Reality time machine which has managed to recreate 1964 Tokyo using 2D images of the era.

However perhaps the most awaited attraction throughout the entirety of the Techfest was the iconic 'Robowars' in which 60 teams from across the world fought it out in the arena in absolute 'real steel' fashion. The wars saw countries like the USA, Britain and Brazil bring on their 'A game', in full metal on metal collision.

The second day began with another round of lectures, with former Indian Air Force Chief mastermind, Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa speaking about the relationship between technology and air superiority. The former air chief went on to enlighten the audience about India's pressing need for the indigenisation of military technology, stressing on its importance saying: “One can march without technology or could swim or sail without much technology, but you definitely cannot fly without technology.” He also spoke about the IAF's role in counter terrorism operations, casevac, and recon

missions, and gave a glimpse into the execution of the famed Balakot Air strikes, over 3,000 people were in attendance.

The third speaker was not human but like Einstein, another humanoid robot, named Robothespian, who spoke about his favourite Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachhan and how he aspires to win an Oscar one day. The robot had an extremely interactive session with the audience, also showing the audience some impressive dance moves, completely winning the crowd.

The series proceeded with Sudhir K Mishra, both the Director General of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Managing Director (MD) of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missi le programme, speaking extensively about the past, present and future of the India's defence and missile testing by DRDO. The DRDO chief spoke about his various interactions with India's missile man Dr APJ Abdul Kalam as part of his visionary team.

Former Cabinet Minister and current Member of Parliament Suresh Prabhu spoke about the rising potential of Indian science and technology exports and also spoke about India's relationship with the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and the importance of Diplomacy for moderns India. The second

day's lecture series concluded with Professor Erik Stark Maskin, recipient of the noble prize in economics in 2007, speaking about his ground-breaking research on mechanism design theory which won him the noble prize. The day continued with another round of Full Throttle and RoboWars.

The concluding day of this year's Techfest began with another lecture series, with first speaker being former Indian Cricketer Zaheer khan, spoke about the role of physical fitness and how he once was an aspiring engineer. The legendary Narayana Murthy the Co-founder of Infosys's spoke technological entre-preneurship and the state of information technology in India. He said that creating jobs is the only way to overcome poverty.

The concluding lecture was given by New York Times Best selling author Ashwin Sanghi, who spoke about creativity and how he draws inspiration from India mythology and history. He spoke about overcoming hardship and rejection telling the audience how his first book was rejected 47 times and spoke about his problem with rat race saying that “even if you win you are still a rat.” The audience flocked to the final round of Robowars and full throttle followed by a DJ Night. The Mumbai police and their Quick Response Teams (QRT) provided security cover while the Saki Naka Traffic Division under Senior Police Inspector Sakpal made sure that traffic before during and post event was maintained.

Let's begin this year differently, cause it's not just a new year, It's the start of a whole new decade.

Someone rightly said, “We were born in the 80s, for those who were raised in the 90s and made it to the 2020. We have lived in four different decades and time zone. Two different centuries, two different millennia, until you are 40.”Do you realise how much have you travelled and transformed? Perhaps not.

It's time we open the New Year with the new beginning and on a positive note, “I am willing to try new things. I am willing to make mistakes and grow. I do not fail as long as I try, I only move in a new d i rect ion wi th newfound meaning.”Just like we cannot open new doors with an old key, in the same we leave all the grudges behind and walk in the direction of new possibilities by being open to new beginning. It's time we dive deep into each zodiac and see what lies ahead of you in 2020.Aries: Arians are a born leader and their biggest strength is multi-tasking. You are very warm pure and caring at heart. It's a good idea to let an Arian pamper you and a bad idea to hurt them. It's going to be a different year, lots of new opportunities, new friends, new associations will come your way. Also, time to shed weight in terms of people relationship or anything that is not working for you. Manifest what you want . Let the universe surprise you.Taurus: They are strong headed extremely romantic and can be harsh and sharp with words. It's important you watch your words. Work wise, it's going to be a splendid year. B u t d o n ' t t a k e y o u r relationships for granted or else you will lose them and you will only be blamed for losing a lovely relationship. Expression is the key either in the relationship or at work. G e m i n i : A f u n - l o v i n g personality, but this year you need to watch out on your finances, as they carry the 'nazar' from the last year as baggage. Last year you have accumulated wealth, but this year savings will be spent. To remove the nazar, keep a

lemon in a glass of water in your living room, change when you see the lemon being dirty.Cancer: Water sign, which is the significance that you blend well with everyone. This also calls for a caution and care. Be careful of the people who you trust as the moon card is out to say that you might encounter deceit or backstabbing. This is a year to invest in yourself rather than in people and in outward energies. Keep the colours light like cream, beige, light green, shades of light blue. This will keep you calm.Leo: They are a generous sign, they like to give. Creativity is the key. There is a major movement seen this year, either of place or people in

your life. Also a prominent male is seen dominating your life. Anything stressing you, you must write it in a paper with black pen and crush the paper and burry it so that your problems are also buried.Virgo: You are too perfectionist which can sometimes be overwhelming for people around you. This is a year of judgement and justice; therefore, remember it's going to be both ways.

You will be judged on your act with others and other with you. Everything that was stuck for you will start moving this year. Relationships need to be watch more closely.Libra: As a balancing sign, you live to balance all sides of your life. Very soft at heart, charming and diplomatic. This is going to be a beautiful year for you. Your fame will increase, use red around you. Also, whenever you start something new it will evoke some amount of conf l i c t , therefore p lease seek protection from the god you worship. And avoid blacks when starting something new.Scorpio: You are powerful and passionate and magnetic, that is a lot of energy and this is the ingredients for success. Make sure you attract what you really want this year. Focus on your goals, relationships and something that you have wanted for very long. Two of pentacles come up to say that this year will be 50:50 wherein something will be very good, and something will not be as expected.Sagittarius: You are usually straight forward in your dealings, honesty is your key. In the times gone by where things

had moved slow, will change this year as the wheel of fortune is out to say that things will move fast this year. A w o m a n p o w e r i s s e e n dominating, who will help you. Sit under the moonlight to enhance your aura and calm yourself down.Capricorn: You are a very pract ica l person, who is disciplined as well. It's time you manipulate things in your interest not in a negative way. But you will now start winning relationships based on your speech. Work-wise too there will be new opportunities seen a n d w o r k w i l l c a t c h momentum. It's going to be a good year overall.Aquar ius : Due to your unpredictable and detached nature, you hurt people around you unknowingly because of which relationships are always not at peace with you. It's time you burry your ego and seek forgiveness and mend your ways. Its time you bring out the honesty in your associations. Don't hurt anyone. P i s c e s : S e n s i t i v e , compassionate and kind, that's what you are. This year you will start a lot of things, but be careful not to burn yourself out. Planning is the key, thus ensure you plan well. If you feel exhausted, please put salt in a small tub with some rose petals and soak your feet, listen to a light instrumental music and imagine your problems being washed out. I wish everyone a happy 2020!

Your “ASTRAL CALCULATION” installing you in the shoes of your work seniors for once, for life's lessons, will be a saving grace.

PISCES - Feb 20 to Mar 20. Will handpick your dream team for a much anticipated business expansion exercise of yours, though any thought of including a relative in it should not be entertained. taking you close to making peace around. Some peripheral though useful activities in the midst of some heavy work engagements can help you solve old logistic issues. Your “ASTRAL CALCULATION” installing you in the shoes of your community leader for once, for life's lessons, will be a saving grace.

TAURUS - Apr 21 to May 20. Will reach the moot point in some stretched discussions in your family linked to the well being of a young family member, not helping his/her cause at all; so let one entity fulfill responsibilities. Some casual investments done off late under guidance of a not so experienced friend can turn out to be a jackpot, to your pleasant surprise. Your “ASTRAL CALCULATION” installing you in the shoes of your ignored friends for once, for life's lessons, will be a saving grace.

GEMINI - May 21 to June 21. Will find a tamper proof mechanism exposed and compromised in your work setup due to a tendency to succumb to the needs of a love interest cum work colleague. Your “ASTRAL CALCULATION” installing you in the shoes of your brother or sister for once, for life's lessons, will be a saving grace.

CANCER - June 22 to July 23. Will proclaim a good friend of yours to be a messiah of sorts for you, after his/her multiple tasking for your causes helping you, making a love interest or your life partner feel insecure. Your timely intrusion, in a discussion of immense importance in your employment workplace, will make many thank their stars. Your “ASTRAL CALCULATION” installing you in the shoes of a work senior of yours for once, for life's lessons, will be a saving grace.

LEO - July 24 to Aug 23. Will find yourself to be a misfit of sorts in a community exercise platform due to the erratic tendencies of the core group, making you divert to other causes. Some medieval thought processes of some relatives of yours, with whom you share some financial stakes, could and should make you take your share and move on solo. once, for life's lessons, will be a saving grace.

VIRGO - Aug 24 to Sept 23. Will make a distinctive mark in a level of excellence set by your seniors in your employment, by pulling in your personal resources to some extent, which is alright. The tendencies of so called supportive relatives of yours to act double faced and troll you on the social media will be hard to react upon, so keep mum online as well. Your “ASTRAL CALCULATION” installing you in the shoes of your family patriarch for once, for life's lessons, will be a saving grace.

LIBRA - Sept 24 to Oct 22. Will find the X-Factor needed in a business marketing exercise missing, primarily due to the induction of some old school thought process operators; so stick to your loyalists. Some solitude sought from community interactions after heading a certain group off late will definitely work for your priority needs. Your “ASTRAL CALCULATION” installing you in the shoes of your investment manager for once, for life's lessons, will be a saving grace.

SCORPIO - Oct 23 to Nov 22. Will enjoy spiritual bliss for once in some occasion in your family circles, taking you back to some old memories of your native spiritual connections of your yesteryears. The master stroke of the season, in terms of connecting with some right clientele in times of market strife, will be due to a well wisher in your business community.
