Colors Most people choose color based on personal preferences, but for fish-ermen, color is a necessity. Each application requires a specific color line. Anglers decide on the color lure they will throw, and should also be selective with the color of line to use in each application.

Green This color is ideal for water types ranging from glacial and high run off river systems to all oceanic regions of the world. Green is also suited for fishing in clear lakes to lakes that have large algae blooms. Because green is similar to many bio organisms, it will “blend-in” to the background of the typical surroundings with which a fish is familiar.

Yellow/White These two colors are designed for applications where a high visibility line is necessary. It is typical for anglers to use a short fluo-rocarbon leader with Hi-Viz lines, especially in clear waters. The angler is able to accomplish the goal of having a line that is invisible to fish that are close to the bait or lure by adding fluorocarbon. Yellow and White PowerPro® applications range from Bobber fishing the rivers of the Great North West to Fly-lining sardines and anchovies along the California coast; fishing the lakes and rivers of our Nation’s central regions for bass, walleye and catfish to targeting Fluke and Stripers in the North East; pelagic fisherman looking for better spread management on the troll to inshore fisherman targeting Snook, redfish and trout. High visibil-ity lines can be used in all applications.

Red In recent years there has been a craze among fisherman to use Red line. But Why? The logic behind this trend is based largely on the color spectrum in water. Since shades of red are the first color to fade, it is thought that by using red colored line, the angler’s line will “disap-pear” underwater. Truth be told, Red does not disappear but in fact turns to a shade of Gray. This gray tone will help to blend the line in to the background and become much less visible to most fish that swim. The color red will completely fade out at a depth of 14 feet. Therefore, when targeting fish in depths of 20 feet or greater, Red Line is ideal. Whether you are deep cranking for bass; trolling for lake trout, walleye or salmon; to bottom fishing in deep rivers…Red PowerPro® should be on your reel.

Fluorocarbon Leader Fluorocarbon leaders are used regularly in conjunction with PowerPro®. The specific applications where a fluorocarbon leader is used range from Fly-lining baits for Pelagics to tournament bass fisherman drop-shotting in clear lakes. By utilizing a Fluorocarbon Leader, PowerPro® can be used in all situations an angler may encounter. With this technique, anglers do not have to sacrifice sensitivity, strength and abrasion resistance

like they had to when fish-ing straight monofilament was their only option.

Spinning ReelsOver the years, many anglers have asked us about PowerPro® on spinning reels. The overwhelming question was, “PowerPro® works per-fectly on my baitcast reel…but how will it perform on my spinning reel?” It will perform beauti-fully. Because of PowerPro’s Enhanced Body Technologytm (EBT), you will feel the line simply glide off of your spinning reel and through your guides giving you casting distance like never before. PowerPro® will outperform monofilament and other super lines because of the EBT process. Spinning reels equipped with the propulsion® Line Management System are ideal for use with PowerPro® as the small loops thrown off the spool minimize backlash, loops and tangles. For the best PowerPro® spinning reel experience look for Propulsion® equipped spinning reels that also utilize the Aero Wrap® II Oscillation for the best line lay possible.

Spooling your ReelAll braided lines need to be spooled in a specific manner. Because of PowerPro’s incredibly thin diameter and limited stretch, it is very important that your PowerPro® line is packed tightly on your reel. When a braided line is first put onto your reel, ideally you should place a small piece of arbor tape (or electrical tape) onto the spool itself. The tape prevents the spool from slipping underneath your line. (TIP: If you do not use a few wraps of monofilament or tape as backing, the PowerPro will actually slip on the spool giving you the illusion that the reel has no drag). Once the tape is in place, wrap your PowerPro® around the spool 2-4 times. Next tie a “uni” knot and tighten around the spool. By wrapping the line around the spool 2-4 times, combined with the arbor tape, this will insure that your line will never slip on the spool. When braided line is being wound onto the reel, be sure to add pressure to your spool of PowerPro® to guarantee that the line is being packed tightly. Once you are finished spooling up your reel, use your thumb to press down on the line on your spool. If it feels soft, you may need to re-spool your line and apply more pressure. However, if you press down and the line feels hard, then your line is packed tightly on the spool and you are ready to go fishing!

Downrigger FishingAcross the country, Downriggers are the standard in targeting suspended fish or placing small baits on the bottom in deep water. Downriggers are all about control. You should have control of your line as well. With PowerPro’s ultra thin diameter, your main line will not “balloon” nearly as much as you have seen with monofilament. This means a better hookup ratio after the downrigger clip trips. Even if the clip does not trip, with PowerPro’s lack of stretch, the rod will react quicker to the strike and you will have much better success after short grabs or slack bites. Bottom Fish

Jigging with PowerPro® PowerPro® allows your jigs to hit the mark. The prop-erties of PowerPro® that give it no stretch allow you to impart as much action into the jig as you wish. This is not possible with mono at depth. The stretch of mono acts as a rubber band and significantly dampens the action you impart to your jig of choice at depth. The punch you are able to deliver to stop a big bottom fish in their tracks that PowerPro® allows is a must.

Bait When soaking dead baits on the bot-tom, PowerPro® is the ideal line to use. With PowerPro’s no stretch design, you will feel every little tap even in the deepest of holes as if it were a telegraph from the fish to your rod tip. We all know the giants of rivers and oceans live on the bottom and you will need PowerPro’s abrasion resistant qualities to pull these beasts from their lair.

BassHeavy Cover PowerPro’s performance will allow you to feel confident while fishing in the heaviest of cover. Plastics One of the most consistent ways to pound big bass all year is fishing plastics. From Carolina rigging to Texas to Drop-Shotting, PowerPro® is your ideal line. The no stretch quality will give you incredible sensitivity to not only feel those “mush” bites, but to be able to feel every last stick, limb, rock or change in the substrate. The no stretch quality of PowerPro® will also ensure your hook set is powerful and quick enough when your bait is just being moved off of a bed or the fish picks up your bait and swims at the boat. Fishing Plastics also means fishing in extreme cover. Again PowerPro’s abrasion resistance will pull fish from any structure so you have confidence in landing that fish that you have worked so hard for all day.

Crankbaits Getting the maximum depth out of your crankbait can sepa-rate an angler from getting a 5 fish limit or just a long day on the water. With PowerPro’s thin diameter, you will be sure to gain extra depth. Monofilament and Fluorocarbon lines are thicker than PowerPro® and this increased “drag” in the water will keep your Deep Diver or even your Slash Bait from reaching the depths where the fish lay. Add in PowerPro’s no stretch and you will notice a better action out of your crankbait and

a quicker hook set on short bites. The abrasion resistance from PowerPro’s EBT technology will allow you to fish in cover you never thought possible with a crankbait. Don’t lose your fish (or your $20 crankbait)…Put PowerPro® on your crankbait sticks.

Knots to KnowUnifor tying terminal tackle–stronger knot1. Pass the line through the eye of your tackle at least twice, leaving 12” for your knot.2. Loop the tag end around the standing line, then pass the tag end through your loop 8 to 10 more times.3. Pull the tag end to tighten the knot, making sure the 8-10 wraps snug down neatly.4. Pull the standing line to jam the knot against your tackle eye, then trim the tag end.

Uni to Uni Splicefor tying PowerPro® to mono of similar diameter1. Lay PowerPro® and monofilament parallel, with 12” to 18” tag ends facing opposite directions.2. Loop the tag end of the mono around both lines, then pass the tag end through your loop 5 to 6 more times. Pull the tag end to tighten the knot, making sure the wraps snug down neatly.3. Repeat step #2 using the PowerPro® tag end, but use 8 to 10 wraps.4. Pull on the standing lines to jam the two knots together tightly.5. Trim the PowerPro® tag end about 1/8” past the knot. Trim the mono tag end as close to the knot as possible.

Reversefor tying PowerPro® to mono of larger diam-eter—easy knot1. Double your PowerPro®, leaving a 1/2” loop at the end. Wrap the PowerPro® around the mono 10 to 12 times, leaving your loop open and opposite the mono tag end.2. Pass the mono tag end through the PowerPro loop.3. Palomarfor tying terminal tackle—easy knot1. Make a 10” loop in the line, then pass it through the eye of your tackle.2. If the eye is big enough, pass the loop through a second time.3. Tie a simple overhand knot, but don’t pull it tight.4. Pass your tackle through the loop.5. Pull on your standing line to tighten the knot, then trim the tag end.

Albrightfor tying PowerPro® to mono of larger diam-eter—stronger knot1. Make a loop in the mono, and hold it with your left hand. Double 30” of PowerPro® to create a 15” two-strand section. Pass this through the mono loop.2. Wrap the PowerPro® loosely around the fingertip of the hand you’re using to hold the mono, then wrap the PowerPro around itself and the mono 20 to 25 times. Work toward the end of the loop, keeping your wraps tight and snug.3. Run the PowerPro® back through the mono loop so it exits on the same side it entered.4. Wet the PowerPro®, and tug on the standing line and tag end to jam your wraps tightly together, moving them toward the end of the loop.5. Pull both standing lines to tighten the knot, then use soft-jawed pliers or a gloved hand to pull the knot tighter. Pull both standing lines at once to make sure the knot is secure.6. Tie a Lock (see below).

Lockto finish the Albright or Reverse Albright1. Loop the PowerPro® tag end around the standing PowerPro®, then pass the tag end through this loop three times.2. Pull the tag end to tighten the wraps, then trim your tag ends.
