MS. LOTTIE YAKS – IMPARTIAL
NARRATOR
MAYOR CORERESIDENTS OF ORDINARY
AT TOWNHALL MEETING
Hi, I’m Lottie Yaks….I was assigned to the position as narrator by recently elected Mayor, Hal Core. He was elected on his platform promise to restore the beauty of the Town of Ordinary. My official title is Town of Ordinary Neutral Mediator.I am going to present “Trash Tawkin” unbiased and without spin.
Seems the Town of Ordinary has been recently cited for failing to keep Ordinary Beautiful. This is an unusual position for Ordinary. For years and years we were the leader in Civic Beauty. The Garden Club won numerous awards for the magnificent floral display in front of Town Square. The Town recycling system worked like a charm. Every Thursday you could hear the engines of the recycling trucks tooling through the neighborhoods. Each household participated in the program. The Chamber of Commerce was featured in a major magazine because so many tourist came to Ordinary each year just to see its beauty. Which brings us to our dilemma. The people who came to visit, told other people who told someone else and soon we were bursting at the seams. Soon…our town changed!
Our little town of 1001 grew to 25,000 in 3 years. Everyone flocked to Ordinary. The housing industry could not keep up with the demands for residences. The sewer system had to be completely overhauled. Day and night, you could hear the sounds of construction crews rushing to accommodate those on a waiting list for houses. People all over the United States heard about our beautiful town and they came to Ordinary to escape the ills of their own hometown’s overgrowth. Unfortunately they brought their city's problems with them.
AFTER THE MASSIVE POPULATION EXPLOSION….THE TOWN OF ORDINARY’S NEW CITY COUNCIL DECIDED TO MAKE BUDGET CUTS AND CEASED THE
RECYCLING PROGRAM. THEY REDUCED GARBAGE PICK-UP FROM TWICE A WEEK TO ONCE A MONTH. IT DIDN’T TAKE LONG FOR OUR BEAUTIFUL TOWN TO GO
FROM THIS… TO……………………………….(NEXT PAGE)
