Reference to PTI/ASBI M50.3 (Grouted PT)

and PTI M55.1 (Grouting)

• Industry standards adopted by many DOTs.• Developed by a committee with controlled membership and

stakeholders from:

• Developed under the same ANSI consensus process ACI uses; with the exception of pubic review – All future editions will include public review as well.

PTI Standards M50.3 and M55.1

Reference to PTI/ASBI M50.3 Guide

Specification for Grouted Post-Tensioning

• Testing of bonded tendon components• Bonded tendon materials;

indicate Tendon Protection Level (PL)• Tendon tolerances (placement)

PTI Standards

The Concrete Convention

and Exposition

Reference to PTI M55.1 Specification for

Grouting of Post-Tensioned Structures

• Grout quality control testing• Grout mixtures for bonded tendons

• Exception: Water soluble chloride ions content not to exceed 0.06% by mass of cement (ASTM C1218)

• Field trial tests• Field mockup tests

PTI Standards

The Concrete Convention

and Exposition

• Major change in ACI 423.7-14: Encapsulated Unbonded

Tendon Materials

• All unbonded tendon materials used in structures designed

by ACI 318 or ACI 350 must be encapsulated.

• Exception: Nonencapsulated tendons allowed in industrial

slab-on-ground applications where specified.
