Backhoe loaders are heavy equipment vehicles consisting of a tractor with a shovel or bucket in the front and backhoe in the back. They have applications in trenching, digging footers, utility work, backfilling, site cleanup, snow removal, material handling, loading and carrying, grading, back dragging, and pallet handling. Backhoe loaders continue to grow in popularity with 24,000 units manufactured and sold each year in North America. They also continue to increase in size and load capacity. Here you see the basic components of a backhoe loader. Many backhoes now come standard with counterweights mounted on the front for ballast as well as for attachments and tools mounted on the backhoe itself. These weights, attachments, and tools can add stress and strain to tires, so see if your customers have these and take them into consideration when you make a recommendation. Also, let your customers know that operators can do a lot to save on the wear of tires by simply avoiding jack rabbit starts and stops.
