▶A breathtaking festival with over 100,000 shots of fireworks in full bloom A fireworks festival is held every autumn at the Yeouido Hangang Park and along Hangang River, attracting more than 1 million spectators each year. Celebrating its 16th anniversary this year, the three teams of Canada, Spain, and Korea will take part in this year’s festivities. The spectacular fireworks show with a over 100,000 shots of fireworks will embroider the Hangang River night sky along with a multi-media show of 63 Square.
▶An extensive show from Yeouido to Namsan Mountain The dazzling fireworks can also be seen around Ichon Hangang Park, Nodeulseom Island and Mapodaegyo Bridge. The fireworks can even be seen from the distant peak of Namsan Mountain.
▶A fireworks festival that remains illuminated from day to night Colorful performances around the Yeouido Hangang Park will be held for citizens seeking new and different enjoyment. The festival will offer a fireworks show that will be Korea’s first to begin in the daytime, experience events, and other fun activities.

Dream Digital
A space for real-time sharing of citizens’ dreams as digital messages and images. The ‘Live Feed’ that shares encouraging messages real-time with posts that include applicable hashtags and the ‘Fireworks Wi-Fi Zone’ that allows entrance through hashtags are worth checking out.

▶An exciting Baekje culture experience at Olympic Park The Hanseong Baekje Cultural Festival is an experiential festival where visitors can feel the history and culture of the early Baekje times. Centered around Olympic Park and the Mongchontoseong Fortress, the festival consists of performances, the experience village, fortress wall walk and other various programs.
▶A look into the grandeur of Baekje’s golden days This year’s festival will focus on the times of ‘King Geunchogo’ who achieved the glory days of Baekje. King Geunchogo established a strong foundation for the ancient nation through active territorial expansions and expanded maritime trade to achieve the glory days of Baekje. Come experience the greatness of King Geunchogo and the grandeur of the Hanseong Baekje culture.

Historical Culture Street Parade Professional actors and spectators gather to parade under the theme of Hanseong Baekje’s history and culture.
Hanseong Baekje Gala Parade | The gala parade will parade three times a day through the festival site to display the highlights of the Historical Culture Street Parade on a small scale.
Hanseong Baekje Experience Village The Experience Village reenacts the historical and cultural lifestyle of the 500 years of Hanseong Baekje.
Meet King Geunchogo | This performance takes place three times a day and is comprised of the King Geunchogo coronation ceremony, King Geunchogo victory parade, and more.
Hanseong Baekje Fortress Wall Walk As a participatory yudeung parade for families, spectators carry hope lanterns that they make themselves to wish for the well-being of their families and the success of the festival as they walk along the fortress wall of the Mongchontoseong Fortress. Pannori Gilnori This is a united activity of nongak bands from around the country under the theme ‘Sound of Peace.’ The music bands enjoy the zest and excitement of native Korea to celebrate a scene of communication with citizens. The contest in creatively reinterpreting the Arirang, the ‘National Arirang Competition,’ is a gathering of youths who demonstrate their dreams and talents through Arirang and music. The ‘Seoul Arirang Festival Youth Street Dance Competition’ is also worth checking out. The National Arirang Competition will take place on the 14th at 10 a.m. while the Youth Street Dance Competition is scheduled to be held on the 13th at 12 p.m. Both events will take place at the festival stage.

▶ Dive into the infinite charms of kimchi The Seoul Kimchi Festival is a festival to see, experience and taste the kimchi culture of Korea that is registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. The traditional value and enjoyment of the festival create an interesting harmony in the kimchi sharing. Come taste kimchi from all parts of Korea, make your own kimchi and dive into the charms of the healthy food ‘kimchi’ that captivated the world with its excellent fermentation science.

Kimchi Sharing As the representative program of the Kimchi Festival, over 4,500 people gather at Seoul Plaza for three days to make kimchi together. The kimchi made here is delivered to neighbors in need to enjoy during the winter season as a symbol of warmth and sharing.
Seoul Gimjanggan An experiential exhibit program under the theme of kimchi. Programs include kimchi secrets by kimchi masters (gimjanggan by masters), a course on kimchi dishes by Chef Yu Hyun-su (gimjanggan by chefs) and the special exhibit (Kimchi Museum & 100 kimchi) where visitors can meet 100 kinds of kimchi from throughout Korea.
Kimchi Pleasure Madang A performance and play experience program at children’s eye-level that unfolds the process of how kimchi is made—from the ingredients to kimchi-making, fermentation and ripening and how it is served on the table.
Kimchi Street A food market to taste unique kimchi dishes and also purchase kimchi from around the country at low prices. The ‘Kimchi Jumak’ will be set up at Mugyo-ro for makgeolli (rice wine) tasting.

▶ A Seoul story as presented by tens of thousands of lights The Seoul Lantern Festival is a light festival that takes place throughout Cheonggyecheon Stream in Jongno-gu, Seoul from the first Friday to the third Sunday of November each year. There are light exhibits that brighten the 1.2-km distance of Cheonggyecheon and various citizen participatory programs.
▶ Installment of special lights in celebration of the 10-year anniversary To celebrate the festival’s 10-year anniversary, this year’s festival selected ‘Dream of Seoul, Streaming with Light’ as its theme to signify its new start and reflection on the past nine years. Together with the 10th anniversary lights will be 364 light sculptures incorporating Seoul’s past and future and the dream of tradition.
Ways to fully enjoy the Seoul Lantern Festival
Take part in the experience programs There will be a variety of experience programs such as the hope lantern floating, scratch board making, traditional and mood lantern-making and more. Foreign tourists can use the exclusive experience space and exclusive experience package.
Hope lantern floating | Citizens can write wishes on hope lanterns available for purchase online or on-site to float on the Cheonggyecheon Stream or hang on the Gwanggyo Bridge. There are various forms of lanterns such as the square lanterns, hanji lanterns and multi-colored lanterns. Participants can assemble their own lanterns to write wishes on the surface of their hope lanterns.

This year’s Lantern Festival will be held under the four themes of ‘Starting Point of a New Dream,’ ‘Seoul Dreaming of the Future,’ ‘Seoul Shining with Memories’ and ‘Seoul Flowing with Tradition.’ Appreciate the bright lights in tune with each theme as you walk along Cheonggyecheon Stream.

A Korean-style escort built with domestic technology in
1984. The Frigate Seoul successfully executed its duties of
protecting the Korean seas for 30 years. The ship features
a torpedo bullet tube, launch ramp and air search radar.
Chamsuri (Patrol Vessel )
Built it 1978, the Chamsuri was deployed to guard and
secure the coasts of Korea. The ship played an active
part in the First Battle of Yeonpyeong in 2002 and the
Second Battle of Yeonpyeong in the Yellow Sea.
Submarine (Information Center)
This submarine was responsible for infiltrating enemy
lines, destruction and patrol from 1991 to 2016. On its
walls are images of the sea for visitors to enjoy.

▶ Overcoming the pains of division to be reborn as a cradle of culture and art The Peace Culture Bunker is a space of culture and art built out of an old antitank defense facility that was cast aside as an eyesore for a long time. The antitank defense facility was an old military facility built to defend the South against the attacks by North Korean tanks during the Korean War. The facility still preserves traces of the war and suggests historical significance.

▶ An amazing transformation of an oil tank The Oil Tank Culture Park that first opened its doors in September 2017 is a park that transformed an oil tank into a special cultural space for citizens to enjoy. The existing five tanks have been reborn as performance halls and exhibition halls while one new tank was renovated into a community center.

of activities A new themed tourist complex (Ganghwa
Seaside Resort) opened its doors at Ganghwado Island, the
museum without a roof. Not only does the complex
encompass activities such as the luge, sight-seeing gondola
and rotating observatory but also has a large outdoor terrace,
cafe, food court and restaurant.

Race down Asia’s biggest luge track
The luge is an exhilarating ride that takes riders down a track only
with the help of slopes and gravity on a specially made
nonpowered sled. Users can control the direction and brakes of
the ride, and the ride can be enjoyed by both children and adults.
The Ganghwa Seaside Resort luge track boasts of its two lines at a
total distance of 1.8 km—the largest in scale in Asia.
Ride the sight-seeing gondola similar to that in
Switzerland
Conveniently take the Ganghwa sight-seeing gondola lift to the
resort’s rotating observatory located 700 m away. As a 8-person
lift of the ‘BMF Group’ with its headquarters in Switzerland, the
gondola can carry up to 2,400 people at once. The cabin was
designed by the German Porsche Design Studio.
Enjoy a feast at the rotating observatory restaurant
The rotating observatory at the top of the resort features a unique
design similar to that of a flying saucer or spacecraft. The
observatory makes one rotation every hour to present a view of the
three sides of the ocean. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely meal at the
restaurant while enjoying the view changing hourly.

Cheongpung Cultural Properties Complex The cultural heritages of the region that submerged with construction of the dam were collected in this folk village above the lake. On top of the Mangwollu Pavilion of the Cheongpung Cultural Properties Complex is a view of Cheongpungho Lake spread out like an Oriental painting.
Cheongpungho Excursion Boats Visitors can ride the large excursion boat at the Cheongpung Ferry below the Cheongpung Cultural Properties Complex. The Cheongpung~Janghoe Ferry course that includes the beautiful sceneries of Oksunbong Peak, Gudambong Peak and Geumsusan Mountain together with the view of Cheongpungho Lake is most popular.
Cheongpungho Scenic Monorail Take the monorail through the mountains along the Bibongsan Mountain trail to the peak for physical and mental healing. The way down is thrilling compared to the peaceful way up and offers a different experience.
▶ The ocean of the inland, the gift of nature Cheongpungho Lake (Chungjuho Lake) is a lake formed by the construction of the Chungju Dam and is the largest lake in Korea. The lake boasts of its large size and it is also known as the ‘inland sea.’It sits over the three cities of Chungju, Danyang and Jecheon, and its surroundings include the Cheongpung Cultural Properties Complex in addition to other tourist attractions such as the Woraksan National Park, Songgye Valley, the Eight Scenic Views of Danyang, Gosu Cave, Guinsa Temple, Suanbo Hot Springs and the Nodong Cave.
