    Considerations:Verify these are the correct instructions for your decoderEnsure you have permission from the property owner to make these changes

    Make sure any roofs or balconies you have to climb or steps are sturdy and can holdyou and all necessary toolsEnsure your satellite dish and any supports are in good working orderUse all appropriate safety gear when on a ladder or scaffoldingPerform as many procedures as possible on the groundIf you have to work close to high voltage wiring or telephone lines, call a professionalDo not move the dish in high wind, rain, lightning or any other inclement weatherIf you still cannot get the signal after making these changes, call the AFN Help Desk.

    Equipment / Terminology

    Satellite Dish - Metal plate used to receivesignal from a satellite in orbit

    LNB - small piece of equpment that sits on

    the edge of the satellite dish to send thesignal to the decoder

    Remote Control - device used to controland make changes to the decoder

    Step 1Reconfgure the AFN Decoder

    1.1 While decoder is turned on, press the

    MENU button on the remote

    1.2 On the Main Menu, arrow up to3. Preset / LNB and press OK on theremote control

    1.3 Once on the Preset & LNB Setup

    screen, write down the current settings.This will help in the unlikely event the re-confguration does not work.

    Note: as you change the settings, the SigLock will change to No and the Sig Levelto 0 until the reconfguration and realign-ment are complete.

    1.4 Disregard Preset & AFRTS Hotbird Eu-rope windows.

    1.5 Arrow to Downlink and press OK onthe remote control, using the number padon the remote control, type in 12341250

    Press OK on the remote control

    1.5.1 The decimal point will be addedautomatically

    1.5.2 The system automatically drop the zero atthe end.

    1.6 Arrow down to Sym Rate and pressOK on the remote control, using the num-ber pad on the remote control, type in275000Press OK on the remote control

    1.6.1 The decimal point will be addedautomatically

    1.6.2 The system will drop 000 automatically

    1.7 Arrow down to FEC, ensure it is set

    for 3/4.

    1.7.1 If it is not, press OK on the remote control,arrow down until 3/4 is displayed, then press OKon the remote control

    1.7.2 Press the down arrow to continue.

    1.8 Arrow down to Polar, press OK onthe remote control, arrow down until V isdisplayed, then press OK on the remotecontrol.

    1.9 Arrow down to Net ID and press OKon the remote control, using the numberpad on the remote control, type in 00010Press OK on the remote control

    1.9.1 System will automatically change it to 10.

    1.10 Arrow to the right and up to

    LNB Pwr, press OK on the remote con-trol, arrow down until 13 is displayed,then press OK on the remote control.

    1.11 Arrow down to LO Freq 1, it shouldbe set for 9.75

    1.11.1 If it is not, press OK on the remote controland using the number pad on the remote control,type in 0975. Press OK on the remote control.

    1.11.2 The decimal will be added automatically

    1.11.3 Press the down arrow to continue

    1.12 Arrow down to LO Freq 2, ensure itis set for 10.6

    1.12.1 If it is not, press OK on the remote controland using the number pad on the remote control,type in 106. Press OK on the remote control.

    1.12.2 The decimal will be added automatically

    1.12.3 Press the down arrow to continue

    1.13 Arrow down to Crossover, it should

    be set for 11.7

    1.13.1 If it is not, press OK on the remote controland using the number pad on the remote control,type in 117. Press OK on the remote control.

    1.13.2 The decimal will be added automatically

    1.13.3 Press the down arrow to continue

    1.14 Arrow down to LO Select, press OKon the remote control, arrow downuntil LO2 is displayed, then press OK onthe remote control.

    1.15 Arrow down to 1. Exit and thenpress OK on the remote control.

    1.16 A popup window will appear, stating

    Acquiring Network, Please wait. MENU toabort.

    1.16.1 This may take several minutes

    1.17 Another popup window will appear,stating Acquisition Failed. Save?This is normal and expected behavior.

    1.17.1 Press the left arrow button to highlight

    Yes, then press OK on the remote control.

    1.19 This screen displays current signal

    conditions. Continue to display this screenuntil dish as been moved.

    1.19.1 The realignment will not be complete untilthe Signal Lock is Yes and Signal Quality is atleast 4.

    1.19.2 You may see readings on the Signal Levelmeter, this is normal.

    1.19.3Disregard the tone sound while on thisscreen.

    1.20 Move on to Step 2.1 to realign thesatellite dish.

    1.18 On the Main Menu, arrow up toDish Setup and then press OK on theremote control.

    Step 2 - Move Satellite Dish

    2.1 Use marker to make a vertical line on

    dish mount and support post

    2.2 Only slightlyloosen bolts or screws

    on dish mount to allow it to move side-to-side

    2.2.1 Loosen bolts or nuts evenly in a crisscrosspattern

    2.2.2 DO NOT loosen any other bolts or screws

    2.2.3 DO NOT make any vertical adjustments

    2.3 Grasping the dish from behind, rotatedish to the right approximately 1/8 inchesor 2 millimeters (pushing with your lefthand and pulling with your right hand.)

    2.8 Image on the right shows what thescreen will look like when alignment iscomplete. The Signal Lock is Yes andSignal Quality is at least 4.

    2.8.1 Disregard the tone sound while on this

    screen.

    2.4 The vertical line will be slightly offsetafter moving dish 1/8 inches (approxi-mately 2mm).

    2.5 Using a cell phone, ask your assistant

    to check the Signal Quality and Lock Stateon the TV.

    2.6 Very gently adjust the satellite dishuntil the Signal Lock displays Yes and op-timal Signal Quality is reached (4-10).

    2.7 If you have moved the dish too far tothe right, move it back until the verticleline is once again lined up and try again.

    2.9 Evenly tighten bolts or nuts previouslyloosened in a crisscross pattern

    2.10. After you have tightened all bolts or

    nuts, check with your assistant to ensurethe Signal Lock is Yes and Signal Qual-ity is at least 4 or above

    2.11 With Exit highlighted, press OK onthe remote control.

    2.11.1 Disregard the tone sound while on thisscreen.

    2.12 On the Main Menu, arrow down toExit then press OK on the remote control.
