General – nicely documented and very relevant. I have highlighted areas of re-use with the documents I am working on and times for completion on this. In general, we should put this online, costs for updating much cheaper, can shortcut on desktop of people using this, can brainstorm great search functions that are question / problem driven. Joanne Swan can be sent on a course to do this at minimal cost. Also SAP has Front Page, and easy to use online authoring course, which our web master can teach Joanne to use. Speaking of web, once this is completed, I would like to discuss elements of this that we can include on SAP net, especially the assessment stuff. It would be great long term, if people could complete this assessment via the web, without having to go into a SAP branch / office. I have tasked Joanne Swan as being the owner of marketing based information on SAPNET. What are your thoughts on web relevant info?
I017301, 01/03/-1,
We need to clearly define the Audience for this document. We should have a section before the preface to say, this document is designed for XYZ employees for them to XYZ client queries on role based effectively, etc. For example, if customer service rep’s / ops, we should include positioning based booklet and FAQ’s (I am adding to this, see rbt/marketing/R 4 power user academies/FAQ’s for Power Users). I am to attend the meeting with Johan Pretorius next week with Kathy, and will add to this, along with the questions from Jenny Prospero’s team, e-mail you. I will let you know once confirmed. Some of this document could be part of the Service Level Agreement (SLA), which will come into effect next year, between role based and SAP SA subsidiary. For example Ops checks trainee assessments randomly to QC quality of delivery, does client telephone checks on satisfaction with training delivery etc. to check CS and SAP trainer standards. I will include a process whereby sales notifies us of new clients, which will be included and updated in the client reference list in BEAT, for marketing collateral. Joanne Swan will be the owner of this.. Also process whereby we are notified of need for more collateral from SAP, ie, ordering process via Joanne

Role Based Education Power User ACADEMY

1 Preface

Power User Academies are aimed at users who provide a crucial support role for other business users within the organization.

Whilst these users do not need configuration skills, they are responsible for supporting users in multiple roles, and will need in-depth knowledge of the integration points within the SAP system and be able to understand the “big picture” of SAP beyond a single user role.

Assessment is offered for these courses to ensure that users understand and can apply the skills learned during the course.

In full alignment with SAP’s global training approach, Power User Academies are based on a training concept that is business process oriented and hands-on. The course is designed specifically to provide the application know-how that Power Users require.

Mention the functional areas that these academies cover and R4.0. Useful to have a role based contact number here, should they require more info, need training etc.
I017301, 01/03/-1,
assessment is offered, successful assessment leads to certification as a SAP Certified Power User. We need to work with Marion & Azhar to be specific on what value this certification has commercially and to organizations. What does it certify you to do? This was included as a question e-mail from Jenny Prospero’s meeting. See my section in info booklet on Certification

Role Based Education Power User ACADEMY

2 Power User Academy Overview

2.1 What is a Power User?

Power Users (who my also be referred to as Super Users), are defined as users who perform a support function across multiple roles within the organization.

This may include one or more of the following functions:

Be part of an implementation team.

Support responsibilities to other users after the system has been implemented.

SAP R/3 training delivery to users performing a number of different roles.

Line Operational Supervisory functions to a wide range of staff performing a number of different roles.

Senior users who wish to extend their usage skills.

Project planners who need to appreciate broad SAP R/3 usage issues within their module scope.

Departmental Heads who are project committee members, and or business strategists responsible for achieving Organizational strategy.

2.2 What are Power User Academies?

Power User Academies run for a duration of 10 (ten) working days, where participants learn about application functionality in a practical, hands-on manner, working with business processes, illustrated by a model company.

Power User Academies provide intensive learning, maximizing the understanding and enabling the retention of product functionality. Exercises are incorporated into the training day, so those participants have the opportunity to practice new skills, and participants have the option of writing an Assessment Exam at the end of the course to consolidate what they have learned.

Power User Academies consist of 5 (five) different modules (i.e. FI/CO, SD, PP, MM & HR), participants can select one module, according to the area in which they work.

Power User Academies are ‘industry neutral’ covering principal areas of a module.

I017301, 01/03/-1,
insert here that the training is delivered on a complete functionality R/3 system. I have put this in the FAQ’s brochure, the main message being “We train on a total functionality system. This is vital, as we teach users best business practices for complete systems which helps them drive out any unused / misused functionality that you are using in your business. It acts as a system and best business practice check for your business, using a complete system and process as your comparison point. Our trainers are expert facilitators and have a wealth of business experience they can bring to the training session. We provide you with case studies and performance measurements that you can then apply to your own business.
I017301, 01/03/-1,
We have a case study at the end of the course. My info booklet “You do a business case study at the end of the course to consolidate the “big picture” of what you have learned during the course”. This is NOT certification, learners have the option to do certification after the training event. Can you check this practically with Azhar, for example, do they have to go back to SAP to certify, or is the certification done after the case study, at the end of training. We also need to stipulate when results on this will be available, ie, average turnaround time, who would notify participants, do they get mailed a certificate etc. Is there a time limit on having attended the course to taking certification. Where can they take this test. Also in chatting to Mark Glover, Power users who perform this role in the company can take the certification test to get the piece of paper, without doing the Power User Academy. This is why the certificate needs some value and weight to it, certifying people who pass to do xxxyxxx in an organisation
I017301, 01/03/-1,
business scenario exercises, to increase hand-on approach. See my info booklet, Special Learning Features section.
I017301, 01/03/-1,
I would use the term learners instead of participants, and facilitator’s instead of instructors, these are more sexy, buzz words in the industry and relate to the concepts of Adult Learning
I017301, 01/03/-1,
we should standardize between info booklet and this. This one is new and not, as yet in info booklet. If designed for cust service rep’s, should include aspect of pre-cursor or bridging course to TeamSAP academy training, for users with zero base skills.
I017301, 01/03/-1,
Should be standard with info booklet, see section Who Should attend this course

Role Based Education Power User ACADEMY

2.3 Who is the target audience?

All existing or potential SAP R/3 users who wish to enhance their overall knowledge of a specific SAP R/3 module.

2.4 Power User Academy Course Objectives

Power User Academies are intended to provide a broad overview of the SAP R/3 module in which you work in. It is ‘industry neutral’, covering principal areas of that particular module that non-manufacturing companies require

2.5 What are the prerequisites?

The prerequisites for all the modules are the same in that participants are required to possess business knowledge or experience in the area in which they wish to train in, as well as Microsoft® Windows® proficiency.

2.6 What are the Individual and Organizational benefits?

2.6.1 Individual Benefits

Promotes user career development and advancement.

Users “see the full picture and have a better understanding of why they do things”.

Users understand what an integrated business system actually is and how they work within this system (they become business, information users).

User personal knowledge development, skill gain and empowerment.

Helps people to achieve their own personal, job, department and company goals.

Helps users understand how SAP can assist them in achieving their individual and organisational goals / KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators).

I017301, 01/03/-1,
As above – I have combined individual and company benefits in the info booklet, the brochure mentioned above specifies individual and company benefits
I017301, 01/03/-1,
I have used a limited few in the info booklet, mainly due to space constraints. Look in info booklet, the Benefits to To and Your Company section. If you want something more comprehensive, see the Brochure rbt/marketing/saphila/brochure/word doc.
I017301, 01/03/-1,
Rather say that there is a baseline of standard pre-requisites coupled with specifics for each functional area. I have only used the must have’s from the course design documents, and not the recommended, with the logic being we don’t want to put people off. There are inconsistencies between standard pre-req’s across course design documents, which I will e-mail CDMs and yourself on. The standard ones I have used are: Good working knowledge of a Windows Operating Environment
I017301, 01/03/-1,
I also picked this up from somewhere. I think this is confusing, as it might imply that manufacturing companies should not attend. Can u get clarity on this from Kathy, as I wouldn’t want to use information that I myself could not explain

4 Assessment Exams

Participants are given the opportunity to take the assessment exam at the end of the Power User Academy. Assessment exams are one hour in duration and consist of thirty multiple-choice questions, participants are allowed access to their course documentation.

A Proctor who is responsible for the test environment manages the test. The Proctor gives each candidate a letter detailing their Candidate Identification Number, and a consent form for the storage of Personal Data. The candidate must complete the form before leaving the exam room.

The Proctor gives an introduction to the test, providing candidates with the necessary instructions for completion of the test.

The questions are mainly multiple choice questions that offer between three and five answers to choose from. There may be one or more than one correct answer. The question indicates whether there is one or more than one correct answer.

Participants are notified of their results the same day, and are forwarded certificates shortly thereafter. The results are stored on a central database at SAP. No detailed results or marks will be provided to participants or organization, in any form. The exam results are classified into Pass and Fail.

Pass: The participant has passed the exam and will receive accreditation.

Fail: The participant has not displayed a base knowledge of SAP and did not achieve the overall 70% Pass Mark

The certificate confirms that the consultant has attained a standard level of knowledge of the R/3 System, in the area in which he/she was tested. The certificate is release based and can be updated with further training when a new release becomes available.

The details printed on the certificate include:

Candidate Name Candidate Company SAP R/3 Module in which the exam was undertaken in Release Number Certification ID

I017301, 01/03/-1,
I understand we will complete q’s for each area by year end, if no suitable tool is found we will assess using paper-based format. Do you, Marion & Azhar have actions to people to dates for clearing up: use of online tool use of online tool for Sap and CS / franchisee, will it be the same what will this assessment specifically provide “value” per functional area are we weighting questions how many times can u take the test if you fail what does SAP do ITO support for people who fail and want to redo – for example, will it assess different knowledge areas, if a person fails in certain areas, will we look at focuses retraining in those areas only, to ensure they pass?
