PowerPoint of different representations

• If you look closely at the front of the boat you can see a long shot of the character at the start of this establishing shot.• The fact that he is standing on the boat as it is coming out of the fog
gives this shot a sense of mystery to it, making the boat seem like it has just come out of nowhere.• This is an effective shot because it represents the psychological aspect
of this thriller genre.
• The face of the character is not yet revealed but he is seen to be vomiting. This is heard due to the use of the retching sounds that we can immediately hear.• He is placed to make him look like he is ill and the way that he is
acting reinforces this because he is slightly moving his body to make the viewers believe that he is sick.
• The characters hair and make up is done in this scene to show that he is very disorientated at this moment.• His make up is done to make him look very pale to give him the
impression that he has just been vomiting.• His hair has had water put on it to suggest that he has been trying to
calm himself down from the fact that he has been sick.• The character is portrayed as very vulnerable in this cut due to the
hair and make up presenting him as having just been sick.
• In this shot, the clothes that he wears gives us a sense that the main character does something professional.• This is suggested by the fact that he wears a hat and a suit.• This also implies that the character is actually here on some sort of
business and not by choice.
• This shot fits the thriller genre perfectly because it depicts a character that is currently unknown, looking at a horizon that get darker the further it goes.• This gives the film a sort of dark side to it as it shows that where they
are going is somewhere dark and mysterious adding to that tense psychological thriller genre.
