About NPTI Durgapur

The National Power Training Institute, has been established by the Govt. of India under the Ministry of Power,

vide the Gazette of India, July 3, 1993 to function as the National apex body for Human

Resources Development of Indian Power Sector. NPTI Durgapur is fully equipped with the latest state of the

art training infrastructure and conducts many long term, medium term and short term training programs in

relevant areas of Power sector. NPTI, Durgapur has long tradition of catering to the training needs of various

power industries like NTPC, DVC, CESC,WBPDCL,OPGC,OPTCL, NHPC, POWER GRID, NALCO, ABB,

BPSCL, DPL, WBSEDCL, WBSETCL etc.

This is a one year full time course conducted at NPTI-ER, Durgapur since 2001. The course is modular

based and conducted in two semesters each of 26 weeks duration. During the course period visits are

arranged to Thermal Power Stations, Hydro Power Stations, Solar Power Plants, EHV Sub-Stations,

Distribution Sub-Station, Load Despatch Centres, Manufacturing Unts and allied industries as and when

required.

About the Course

The main aim of the course is to create pool of technically trained manpower readily available for recruitment to the State, Central and Private Power Utilities and allied industries. The curriculum of the course is technically oriented towards power Plant descriptions, Equipment details, Commissioning, Operation & Maintenance and Control & Instrumentation of modern Power Plants. The students also get realistic practice through Simulator Training in Operation of various generating units of different capacities..

Objective of the Course

Workshop / Laboratories :

Workshop is equipped with the machineries for valves, pumps, motor maintenance and shaft alignment,welding, C & I, Electrical Equipment Testing provides (off-job) hands on training in the maintenance aspects. Solar Power Plant is also avai lable in Inst i tute premises for l ive

demonstration.

Library :

The course is a value addition to the Diploma Engineers. On successful completion of this course, the Diploma

Engineers will find immense opportunity and preference in employment with various companies engaged in

Power Business. This is a job oriented unique course which covers complete operation and maintenance of

Power Plants, as per the guideline of CEA regulations 2010

Eligibility :

Passed 3 years Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electrical & Electronics from recognized technical board.

Graduate Engineers are not eligible. Age Limit : No age limit

Selection criteria for Admission : Percentage of marks obtained in Diploma

Library comprises major literary collections on Power Station TechnologyMechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, C & I, Electronics, Computers, Management etc., Various Indian and Foreign periodicals in areas of thermal power, renewable energy, smart grid etc. are subscribed for providing latest information of the sectors. NPTI-ER also maintains a collection of publications on various topics related to power sector which have been developed by the faculty of NPTI.

Hostel Facilities: Hostels with all amenities are available in the Institute to accommodate male and female candidates separately on chargeable basis.

Open Learning Centre : NPTI has developed computer based multimedia packages on different components of power plant . These packages are used for imparting consistent high quality training to the participants of the course.

Interested candidates may send the duly completed Application Form along with Application fee of Rs. 590/- ( Rs. 500 +GST @ 18%) in the form of Demand Draft from any Nationalized Bank drawn in favour of “NPTI- ER” payable at Durgapur. The application form should reach 'Head of Institute' on or before 17th August, 2018 by Regd. Post / Speed Post / Courier Post / in person. The Fees can also be paid by ECS. The details of ECS are available on the website.
