    Postgraduatestudy options

    Certifcate and diploma

    Graduate Certifcate in Businessis a four-unit course that may be undertaken as astand-alone award or as a pathway to a graduate diploma or masters degree. It is designedto give you an introduction to a variety of business disciplines, however you can tailor the unitselection to your specic area of interest. Students who successfully complete the certicate

    may be eligible for admission into a masters degree.

    Graduate Diploma in Businessis an eight-unit course, designed for students who wish toextend their knowledge in general business principles. This is a exible program that allows you

    to take a number of broad business units, or a sequence of units relating to a specic discipline.

    Coursework programs

    Most of our coursework degrees comprise 12 units. Full-time students normally undertake fourunits per semester and part-time students normally undertake two units per semester. In somecourses, you are able to exit your masters degree early with a graduate certicate (four units)or a graduate diploma (eights units).

    In some disciplines, you are eligible to enrol in a graduate or postgraduate diploma and, aftercompletion of eight units, articulate into a relevant masters degree. Many of our courseworkprograms also offer a research stream, which serves as a prerequisite for undertaking a PhD.

    Information for prospective students

    Higher Education Loan

    Program (HELP)

    Loans have been introduced under theHigher Education Loan Program (HELP),which incorporate previous loan schemesincluding the Higher Education ContributionScheme (HECS), the PostgraduateEducation Loan Scheme (PELS) andthe Bridging for Overseas TrainedProfessionals Loan Scheme (BOTPLS).

    The HELP scheme provides an interest-free,income contingent loan facility for eligiblestudents enrolled in: accredited undergraduateand postgraduate award programs includinghigher degrees by research; bridging coursesfor overseas trained professionals to enablethem to meet the entry requirements for theirprofession in Australia; and courses to enablestudents to meet the requirements for entryinto an awards program.

    Fees

    To study at Monash University you must paytuition fees to the university. Tuition fees varyfor different courses. Indication tuition feesare detailed in the course tables of this guide.However, please check Monash course nder

    Postgraduate coursework programs arefull-fee places. The tuition fees quoted are for48 credit points unless otherwise stated in thecourse tables and only applicable to a coursecommencing in the year stated in the table.Tuition fees for course commencement incoming years will be different. Monash Universityreserves the right to adjust annual tuition feesfor future years of your course. However,Monash University undertakes that anyadjustment factor for those continuing studentswill not exceed six per cent per annum. Anyadjustment will be applied on the rst day of

    January each year for teaching periods withinthe census date thereafter.

    Credit (advanced standing)

    for previous study

    Credits/exemptions may be consideredfor previous tertiary-level study or post-secondary study (including TAFE andOpen Universities Australia) in Australiaor overseas. Applications for credits/exemptions must clearly indicate units forwhich advanced standing is requested andmust be accompanied by a legally certied

    copy of your academic transcript and unit

    syllabus, usually from the course handbook.Each application is assessed on acase-by-case basis.

    It is essential that units submitted for credit/exemption t the philosophy and principles

    of this course of study. Units studied morethan 10 years ago will not be consideredfor credit/exemption.

    English language profciency

    Monash University has minimum English entryrequirements for all students, to ensure thatall applicants for degrees have the English skillsto perform well in their studies. Applicants canmeet the English language prociency

    requirements if

    > You have achieved a satisfactory level ofperformance in an English subject at Year 12or equivalent level. This means a study score ofat least 25 in units 3 and 4 in any VCE Englishsubject. All other students should visit:www.monash.edu.au/internationalfor entry requirements details.
