The Chapel was built in 1832 to replace a temporary wooden structure, the Chapel is one of the most aesthetically pleasing buildings in Georgia with unrivaled classical proportions. Documented in the Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) beginning in 1933, it is a component of the University’s most easily recognized cultural landscapes. The Office of University Architects and the College of Environment and Design are coordinating a planning process being conducted now by Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc.
