If you leave Tableau thinking it doesn’t look like anything else you’ve seen in a model suite, considerthat a compliment to the designers. The folks at Cecconi Simone Interior Design weren’t looking tocreate just another model. The difference is apparent upon entry. The 610-square-foot unit is almostcompletely white, right down to the flat-screen television, which the team painted. Bits of black showup, very purposely, only in the kitchen. “It’s almost like looking at the space like an art installation,”interior designer Elaine Cecconi says. “You can really appreciate it when there’s no distraction of col-ours andmaterials. So rather than use a lot of colour, we used texture. While white is the main colour,it’s not all one tone of white.” The space is ever changing: Bi-folding doors can hide the kitchen at will, modifying the suite completely. When the doors are open, the black cabinetry and back-painted glassbacksplash create a vivid statement, but when they’re closed, black still show up through graphiccutouts, providing a peek at what’s inside. “We wanted to create contrast,” Ms. Cecconi says. Suites atTableau — by Urban Capital, Malibu Investments and Alit Developments — range in size from 405 to1,036 sq. ft. and in price from the mid-$200,000s to $621,900. The sales office is located at 117 PeterSt., Toronto, and is openMonday to Thursday from noon to 6 p.m. and weekends from noon to 5 p.m.Call 416-591-8887 or visit tableaucondos.com.

1 You won’t find these bench-es in a store, but you might beable tomake them yourself. Cus-tom-created by Cecconi Simone, they’re simply two-by-foursstrapped together and paintedwhite, with cushions on top forcomfort. “They look homemadeversus manufactured — likesomeone made them in theirshop.”Ms. Cecconi says.
2 Like the benches, the din-ing table is custom. The base— which resembles “pick-upsticks” — was inspired by thebuilding’s planned public art:a Shayne Dark sculpture calledNova, featuring five-storey acid-green “sticks” that will puncturethe podium. “It’s a really dynam-ic piece,”Ms. Cecconi says.
3 “It’s less predictable to dothree different light fixtures,” thedesigner says of these TomDixonbeauties. Black on the outside tomatch the dining table, the goldcolour inside adds an unexpect-ed twist.
4You might recognize the
side lamps in the bedroom; theTizio table lamps, designed byRichard Sapper in the 1970s,are classic. Usually found inblack, “the white gives them amore contemporary look,” Ms.Cecconi says. “It’s a way to up-date them.”
5 Lookingtointegratediversetones and textures, the designersraided Designer Fabric Outletfor white materials to create thisheadboard. The fabrics were as-sembled in a mishmash patternthat’s not gridded or geometrical, creatingawhimsicaldesign.
6While the suite’s bi-folddoors hide the kitchen on awhim, these full-height slidingdoors mean the bedroom andden can also be hidden away. When they’re pushed back, theycreate an open, airy space — agreat way to make 610 squarefeet feel larger.
