Karad is long known as the city of late Shri Y. B. Chavan, former Deputy Prime Minister of India and the Architect of modern Maharashtra. With the emergence of Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences Deemed University, it has now added another feather in its cap.
It was the culmination of determined efforts of Honorable Shri Jayawantraoji Bhosale, Founder Chairman that the activities of the Krishna Charitable Trust began in 1974. The Krishna hospital was started in July 1982 and to meet the medical needs of the area, it was expanded and Medical College was started in 1984. KIMS has become a Deemed University in May 2005.
Located on Pune- Bangalore National Highway, on the outskirts of Karad, Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences Deemed University (KIMSDU) has earned a name for itself in the field of Health Care and Medical Education. KIMSDU runs a 740 bedded multi-specialty hospital. Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences Deemed University has Medical, Dental, Nursing, Physiotherapy & Biotechnology Colleges. Students of KIMSDU have consistently performed extremely well in their Graduate and Post Graduate examinations, due to the continuous persistence towards high quality standards.
