JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Foot Care Worker (Podiatrist)

JOB PURPOSE: To provide a foot care service which includes toenail cutting and an enhanced service (limited to debridement, some offloading and some work with low risk diabetic clients) referred in to the service. The service will be delivered either at designated venues or in the client’s own home.

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Foot Care Team Leader and/or Support Services Business

LOCATION: Variable – Hastings and the mid and east areas of East Sussex.

HOURS OF WORK: Flexible

CONTRACT: Bank Contract

PURPOSE OF POSTTo provide a foot care service to eligible clients referred to the service within the service criteria either in designated venues or in their own homes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Delivery of the Foot Care Service

1. To ensure that the client meets the service eligibility criteria at the start of each session.

2. To work only within the scope of practice which you are competent to complete and within the knowledge framework that has been provided

3. To observe infection control guidance and ensure that best practice is maintained at all times.

4. To make and maintain contact with the Foot Care Service clients to arrange or reschedule appointments as necessary.

5. To deliver a person centred service.

6. To actively promote healthier lifestyles and where appropriate other Age UK East Sussex services.

7. To undertake a home risk assessment of the clients’ home and a venue risk assessment of the venue on a first visit.

8. To review home and venue risk assessments at each subsequent visit.

9. To ensure that all clients are aware of their next appointment.

10.To complete receipt book and appointment cards for clients and issue accordingly.

11.To undertake banking of all monies taken from clients in a timely fashion in accordance to guidance from Age UK East Sussex.

12.To ensure you have been issued with all the correct supplies with sufficient for any new/prospective clients and to monitor stock levels.

13.To submit expense forms and time sheets to the Foot Care Team Leader by the 8 th of each month.

14.To report any near misses, minor or major incidents/accidents to either the Foot Care Team Leader or the Health & Community Development Manager as soon as possible and record on the relevant form.

15.To work with the Foot Care Team Leader to review and evaluate the delivery of the service.

16.To work within the policies and procedures of Age UK East Sussex.

17.To report any concerns to either the Foot Care Team Leader or the Health & Community Development Manager.

Managing Data

18.To ensure that up to date records are maintained and any changes in the client’s personal circumstances, medical history and medications are amended on the database and reported to either the Foot Care Team Leader or the Support Services Business Manager.

19.To ensure all client information/details are treated as private and confidential in accordance with Age UK’s confidentiality policy.

20.To ensure all client information/details are stored and transported according to Age UK’s Data Storage and Transportation policy.

21.To provide full and complete registers of each clinic completed, including clients that have attended, cancelled appointments and any did not attend (DNA) appointments, to be received by the Foot Care Team Leader by the 8th of each month.

22.To follow up “DNA” clients in accordance with the service’s procedure.

23.To attend the service’s mandatory induction and refresher training sessions.

24.To participate in supervision, training and development opportunities and other events as appropriate.

25.To keep up-to-date with developments in foot care practices.

Other

26.To work within the policies and procedures adopted by Age UK East Sussex with particular attention to equal opportunities, confidentiality, safeguarding adults at risk and health and safety requirements.

27.To be prepared to alter agreed weekly working arrangements on occasions to be able to attend meetings and events and/or to cover other team members' sickness or annual leave

28.To understand and act within our quality frameworks (currently ISO9001 and Quality Counts)

29.To ensure that template (standard) documents for the service are developed, stored

and reviewed in accordance with the template document procedures.

30.To undertake other tasks and duties as may be reasonably required by the Team Leader

31.To cross promote all AUKES services, products and commercial activities

Training

32.To complete relevant training as agreed with your Team Leader.

33.To be committed to your professional development.

34.Age UK East Sussex intends to review this document on an annual basis to best suit the changing nature of the role as the service develops. Any changes will be made by mutual agreement.
