7:00 pm
From the Auxiliary President Hello Auxiliary Members:
First I would like to thank Vivian Parrish for her do-nation to the Auxiliary. It was very much appreciated and will be put to good use for our Veterans.
Second, We had the winners of the Voice of Democ-racy and Patriots Pen before the meeting Thursday night. The winner read their entries and I mean the-se young adults, what they wrote in their essays, the only way to describe the content was WOW!
The Voice of Democracy is for students in upper grades, they are given a theme on which to write their essay, there are certain rules they need to fol-low. The Patriots Pen is for middle grade students and they are also given certain rules to follow. Both of these categories are judged on Post level, then District, State, and National. Post level winners re-ceive certificates and a check, along with District, and State. National winners can receive their monies in the form of scholarships. I wish all the winners luck as they progress through the levels.
We need a few more members to pay their dues. If you do not pay your annual dues by June 1, 2020, you will be removed from our membership list and no longer considered a member. All membership cards come from National in Kansas City, It may take some time for you to receive new cards. MAKE SURE WHEN YOU RECEIVE A MAILING FROM NATIONAL YOU LOOK IT OVER CAREFULLY. The cards are different from before, so watch for them. If you accidentally throw them away, there is a fee to replace them. $5 for continuous membership and $10 for life membership. THIS IS FOR LOST CARDS ONLY.
Loyally Submitted,
Lynn Krause, President (402) 553-7562 402-553-7562
From the Commander Welcome to 2020! The annual New Year’s Eve Steak Fry and dance was a huge success for the Post. I would like to thank everyone who gave up their time to help out making out Post the best steak house for one day a year. I heard great reviews about the food. The steaks were prepared by our chef John, the waitresses were very busy and professional. The band Day break did a great job entertaining everyone into the New Year with some good music, already looking forward to next year. We are finally getting the equipment together to fix the sound system in the Canteen, new speakers and receiver. This should be completed soon. You will be receiving a letter in the mail for our annual maintenance fund raiser. Last year was a big success and we were able to make some needed repairs due to your generous support. Thank you in advance for your donations. Please note our Post and Auxiliary meetings are on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 1900 hours ( 7:00 p.m.) We would like to see you there to give your input as to what things need to be addressed. RESPECT Mike Rosso - Commander - VFW Post 2503
