Title:POSSESSING YOUR SOUL

Bible Texts:1 Thes 4:3-7;Luke 21:15-19;Gal 5:15-End

"For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh:

and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the

things that ye would."(Galatians 5:17 KJV)

"In your patience possess ye your souls". (Luke 21:19 KJV)

There is a contention and battle for the repossession of your soul by the

enemy. For any believer, the moment you hand over your life to our Lord

Jesus Christ, and the work of transformation takes place, the enemy

strives to take over/repossess your soul, so there is a contention.

Notwithstanding the fact that you are a believer, the contention is not

going to stop.

This fact is evidenced by the following scriptures in the bible:

"I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in ChristJesus. "(Philippians 3:14 KJV)

The word "Pressing" indicates the existence of some barrier or friction.

"Fight the good fight of faith,.." (1 Timothy 6:12a KJV)

The word "Fight" is indicative of contention, warfare and conflict

"...and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which

was once delivered unto the saints." (Jude 1:3b KJV)

"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:" (2Corinthians 10:3 KJV)

All these scriptures refer to conflicts, contentions and fights in our spirit

life.

"For by it the elders obtained a good report." (Hebrews 11:2 KJV)

The word "obtained" suggests some level of force as oppossed to just

getting something.

"Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life."

(Proverbs 4:23 KJV)

These scriptures speak to our responsibility to guard against some

untoward events in our life."..since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man

presseth into it." (Luke 16:16b KJV)

The word "press" is indicative of the application of pressure.

All of these are not of the language of gentility but suggests some force

and level of spiritual violence.

We are at the end times and the battle and the contention and

repossession of our soul is increasing in intensity on a daily basis. The

enemy is trying to dispossess and repossess your soul.

You have a responsibility to possess your soul with Sanctification and

Honor.

It does not come by negotiation but by contention, fight and conflict or

else the enemy will overturn your faith.

The objective of the enemy is to take over and entrench himself andbecome a stronghold in your soul.

It is your personal responsibility to possess your soul with a firm grip so

that the enemy does not take over.

There is a how to possess our vessel with sanctification and honour.

Our soul is the seat of our mind, our will, our volition. It is also refers to

our cognition. Our thoughts, our intellect, our emotions.

"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed

into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living

soul."(Genesis 2:7 KJV)

In the story of creation, man became alive in the soul. The bible text did

not make any reference to the body. What defines your life more occurs

in the realm of your soul and that is why the enemy wants to take over





and manipulate it.We have a responsibility to ensure that this does not

happen.

"And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; "(Ephesians 4:23 KJV)

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love,and of a sound mind. "(2 Timothy 1:7 KJV)

GOD HAS GIVEN US A SOUND MIND SO WE CAN REASON SOUNDLY

Mad citizens on the street of unsound mind are not counted during a

census though sick patients in hospital get counted.

Whether you are going to live for God or not depends on who you yield

the battle to.The realm of the battle is in your soul.

"For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh:

and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the

things that ye would." (Galatians 5:17 KJV)

The battle for the soul is a perpetual war between the flesh and soul.It

is either the flesh takes control and you begin to behave according to

the works of the flesh or the spirit takes over and you begin to manifestthe fruits of the spirit.

The responsibility for your choice is personal.

HOW DO WE POSSESS OUR SOUL?

• Sanctification and honour(1 Thes.4)

You either possess your soul with sanctification and honour or youallow lust and evil to take over your soul with the attendant dishonour.

You need to persevere and hold on to it firmly and perpetually.

·Prayer and Watching

"Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy

to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before

the Son of man." (Luke 21:36 KJV)





Be sensitive and observant.

·Avoid Idleness

Idle and not engaging in Kingdom services

"And it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kingsgo forth to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and

all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged

Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem." (2 Samuel 11:1 KJV)

In his idleness, David committed adultery and murder

TO KEEP THE ENEMY IN CHECK PERPETUALLY

·Deliberately watch over your heart and mind

To prevent ungodly inflow into and contend with the enemy continually.It

is what flows in that possesses your soul and hands it over to the

enemy.

"Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life."-

Proverbs 4:23 KJV"He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken

down, and without walls."-Proverbs 25:28 KJV

·Ungodly media

·Eg.Internet;School curricula;Nudity fashion

"Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,"-Romans 1:22

KJV"Every treasure of value is buried"-Mohammed Ali to his daughters

·Ungodly discussions and associations

Increase in violent crime and rape tracable to the media.

Rather that honour irresponsibility among so called celebrities,we

should rather comply with Psalms 15:4 KJV

"In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that

fear the Lord. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not."





You can never outgrow the contention over your soul. You must be

willing to fight continually

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring

lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: (1 Peter 5:8 KJV)“Seeking” is a present continuous word. Seeing that the enemy is

always seeking, we must likewise keep on fighting and resisting him.

The flesh will always be there as an adversary. You have a

responsibility not to be a victim by watching, praying and contending

with the enemy continually.

·Place a watch over your ears,eyes,legs & hands

In order to possess your soul with sanctification and honour

I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a

maid? (Job 31:1 KJV)

There are things you don't look at twice

·Perseverance and patience

Or else we will be tempted to give in or drop our guards.

HAVE I BEEN DISPOSSES OF MY SOUL BY THE ADVERSARY?

Have I started to find justifications for the things I was not excusing

before?

Are there seed I have allowed?

Am I a person whose heart is like a broken down city?

Speak to yourself with integrity.

I need to implement the how we have learnt to possess my vessel with

sanctification and honour.

The fighting and warfare is not going to abate.

“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art

also called, and hast professed a good profession before many

witnesses.”(1 Timothy 6:12 KJV)





In this month of possession, God will have you possess your soul first.

After that all other good things will follow naturally.

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all

these things shall be added unto you.”(Matthew 6:33 KJV)“But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess

the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.” (Daniel 7:18 KJV)

You can only possess your domain(Kingdom) after possessing your

soul with sanctification and honour.

“But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness;

and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.”(Obadiah 1:17

KJV)

PRAYER

Everything that has made inroads and become a stronghold to take

possession of my soul illegally, today I am breaking that hold. I am

pulling them down, they are being destroyed. I am breaking loose from

them.

I connect to the grace available to overturn whatever it is that theenemy has put in place.

Lord, help me repossess our soul

Grace to keep your heart with diligence be imparted IJN,Amen
