SWOT Analysis

posititude March 15 6

SWOT Analysis is a great tool for taking important decisions by evaluating Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threat in a Project or business Venture. A SWOT analysis can be carried out for a product, place, situation, market , industry or person. What do each letter of “SWOT” Stands for, let us describe that first. S – Strengths, Elements or Characteristics which gives advantage over the others. W- Weaknesses, Elements or Characteristics which gives disadvantages over others. O – Opportunities, Elements or Characteristics which can be exploited for self advantage. T – Threats, Elements or Characteristics which can create trouble for self. This analysis is normally used to evaluate Business , product or Market health. It is very good tool before taking any critical and important decision in any kind of business. In this article, we will discuss how SWOT can be used in Self management. Now you have four quadrants. Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threat. You are ready to do self evaluation now. Ask the following Questions to yourself and write the answers in the respective quadrants. S - Strength – You should know what are your strengths, which gives you advantage over others. Page 8: Posititude - March 15

posititude March 15 8

T – Threat – There may be many threats in front of you which are hindering you in achieving your goals. These may be inside you and surroundings. Do the Good, Good Will Come to you

An orphan boy of 18 was struggling to get education for him. Life become tough. He doesn’t have money to deposit his fees. Where there is will, there way. The boy started thinking what to do and manage the show. He planned to organize a Music concert in the College campus. One of his friend also joined him. He was confident that he will get enough money by organizing the concert. They met the famous piano artist Ignacy Jan Paderewsk. His manager asked for two thousand Dollar money as Guarantee money for the concert. They agreed and started doing preparation for the concert. On the schedule date the concert was organized. But they couldn’t able to sell enough tickets, even to pay the guarantee money. They could collect only 1600 dollars only. Concert was a gaffe. But they have promised to pay the guarantee money. They collected another 400 dollars and went to Paderewsk with 2000 dollars. They explained him the real situation and told him their problem. Paderewsk was kind enough and returned back the money to the boys and told them if they are left with any money after depositing the fees, they can pay him the left over money. Even though both the students were stranger for Paderewsk, but he helped them. Both the students were astonished and jumped with happiness that they could now continue their studies further. They showed their fullest gratitude towards Paderewsk and left for the college. In 1919, Ignacy Jan Paderewsk was appointed Prime Minster of newly borned Poland. This was the period when 1st world war effected most of the european countries. Poland was not an exception. Poland was under going through a tough phase. There was huge shortage of food. Population of 1.5 Lacs was struggling with hunger. Paderewsk, went to America for Help. He approached American Food and Relief Administration. At that time Herbert Clark Hoover was the chief of the department.

Page 11: Posititude - March 15

posititude March 15 11

Later in 1929, he become 31st President of America. Herbert assured Paderewsk for the full support and help. He dispatched tons of food grains and other stuff to Poland. Paderewsk was relieved. It was a great help for him and his Country men. He went to Herbert for thanking him for the timely help and saving his country men from Hunger. Herbert generously requested Paderewsk, that he need not to extend any thanks to him. He deserves the help and can ask any kind of help from him which comes under his purview. Herbert told Paderewsk, to remember those two boys for whom he has done a music concert, years ago. Herbert to him, he was one of those two boys. He may have forgotten the help he have extended him for paying college fees years ago, but Herbert can’t forgets it till his life. This was real life story of two big and famous world personalities. In India Epics “Srimad Bhagwad Gita” there is shloka –

The message is very much clear. Lord Krishna told Arjuna – “You have the right to work only but never to its fruits. Let not the fruits of action be your motive, nor let your attachment be to inaction. ” Paderewsk did the concert and also demanded money. But when he came to know that the boys were in critical problem and unable to pay their fees, he withdrawn and never expected any thing from the boys. Years later God helped him in a bigger way for his small help he has done. He never had even imagined that he will be prime minister of Poland, will face disaster and this lad (Herbert) will be head of Food Supply, America will help him. He only helped the boys.

Page 12: Posititude - March 15

posititude March 15 12

So the first lesson is “Never give-up. Keep trying”. You will get the Solution sooner or latter. The boys tried level best to gather 2000 Dollar, but failed. But they got the money for their fees. If they wouldn’t have tried, they couldn’t have submitted the fees. So never get dis-hearted. Keep trying. God had thought of even a better option for you. Secondly, “Do the good, best is awaiting for you”. Paderewsk got the best return of 2000 Dollars. Never forgets the persons who helped you. Because, it is not the person who helped you, but the God came for your help in his form. “Show your gratitude even for a small help and support”. “Think Big. Big will think of you”. Have Patience but never stop doing. Do for the God, as if God has given the task and you are doing the same for him and not for yourself. You take care of your work, god is there to take care of you. Devote yourself to the almighty. Keep doing for him. God will fulfil your needs and not luxuries.

Suraj Kund International Mela - 29

Page 33: Posititude - March 15

posititude March 15 33

Apart from living healthy and positive life, it is very much necessary to add some art, culture and colors to the life. Roaming in nature or feeling touched with the art and culture adds positive energy and knowledge to us. While visiting the Surajkund Crafts Mela I felt very touched with the art and craft from all over the world. This time the theme state was Chhatisgarh which has a different culture and wealthy tribal art in its bag. Focus was on its tribal heritage which is still found well-preserved in the forests of Bastar. It was very well covered and showcase the culture of Chhattisgarh, be it business, food, folk dance and music, daily life, mode of earning etc. Items made of Metal, Leather, Mural Art, Bastar Art, Terracotta Art, Traditional Forest Medicine, Traditional Ornaments, Gedi and Suwa Dances, traditional art crafts were displayed on the trees too. The above shown mural was displayed on the wall, which attracted me most. It shows how a life prays god for sending him to the human life and commits what he will do, but actually after getting human life what he does and what he forget to do. This is what happen to everyone of us. We seldom get disconnected from basics of life. This message ignite within us the lamp of spirituality and basics. In the busy-ness of our day-today life we forget our father and engage most of our time handling our life’s adversities and problems, which are the side effect of ignorance of god. We can remember in any form, Lord Krishna, Jesus, Wahe Guru, Alaha, Budha, Lord Mahavira or any other idol. If we are always connected, then we may not face adversities in our life and even if we face them, we overcome the situation without much of efforts due to the connected positive force with us.

“Once a man was asked, “What did you gain by regularly praying to God?” The man replied, ‘nothing…but let me tell you what I lost : Anger, Ego, Greed, Depression, Insecurity, and Fear of Death.’ Sometimes, the answer to our prayers is not gaining but losing; which ultimately is the gain.”

Gain in Loss?

Indian Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Bhai Modi is a great visionary. According to census, the child sex Ratio (0-6 years) in India was 927 girls per 1,000 boys in 2001, which dropped drastically to 914

girls for every 1,000 boys in 2011. To increase the ratio, girl child has to be saved from feticide. This step is a great step in saving and giving promoting participation of girls in every sphere of life. To contribute to this mission, posititude also wants to contribute. In this issue we have presented a Hindi poem written by Mr. Nar Singh Saini. This poem describes the feelings of a girl child in the womb of her mother. The message is very clear Girl feticide has to be totally abolished.
