PresidentRobert(Bobby)Robbins,withtheadviceandcounselofaSearchAdvisoryCommittee,invitesapplicationsandnominationsfortheUniversityofArizona’sSeniorVicePresidentforAcademicAffairs&Provost(Provosthereafter).ReportingdirectlytoPresidentRobbins,theProvostisthechiefacademicofficeroftheUniversity,andassuch,willbeinstrumentalinguidingthefutureoftheUniversityofArizona.TheProvostwillworkcloselywith,andcomplement,theeffortsofPresidentRobbins.
The Role of the Provost TheProvostisexpectedtobetheacademicandscholarlyleaderoftheUniversity,withultimateresponsibilityforallacademicprograms,operations,andinitiatives.TheProvosthasprimaryoversightforallacademicoperationsoftheUniversity,includingfacultypromotionandtenure,andadministrativestructuresofcollegesandcenters,andallaspectsofstudentaffairs.TheProvostalsowillberesponsibleforthecreationandimplementationofprogramsinconsonancewiththeUniversity’sstrategicplan.TheProvostwillguidetheschoolsandcollegesinlightofthehighlycollaborativenatureoftheUAcampus.TheProvostwillberesponsibleforappointmentandevaluationofalldirectreports.AnorganizationalchartfortheProvost’sofficecanbefoundinthefirstappendix.UndertheleadershipofPresidentRobbins,theUniversityofArizonahasembarkedonaprocessofreinvention,drawingfromourhistoricstrengthsinhandwithinnovativefuturethinking.Wealsoseektofurtherthecollaborative,interdisciplinaryspiritsoimportanttoourcampus.Weseektoenhancestudentperformance,thestandingofourscholarlyprogramsintheirrespectivecommunities,andtheattainmentofexternalsupportfortheseprograms.Inaddition,itwillbetheresponsibilityoftheProvosttoworkwiththeSeniorVicePresidentforHealthSciencesandtheSeniorVicePresidentforResearchandInnovationtodevelopacollaborativevisionfortheacademicandresearchenterpriseoftheUniversity.
