Position Overview

CommBank is looking for students to complete work placements from a wide range of disciplines who are passionate about developing their skills, taking hold of opportunities and meeting the needs of our customers. Our 10-week program gives you a taste of what it’s like to work with Australia’s best bank. You’ll be given full support and training to help you decide if CommBank is the right fit for you.

We’re looking for energetic, motivated students who are keen to learn and challenge themselves. Some areas of the bank you could work in are as follows:
Business & Private Banking: working with clients having complex financial needs, you will work with our Analyst/Senior Analysts or Relationship Executives on solutions for our small-medium enterprise clients, corporate clients, or our regional and agribusiness clients.
Risk Management: a critical support function in the business. Risk Management works to develop strategies and risk frameworks that allow the Group to take conscious, Board-approved exposures to credit, market, operational, compliance and insurance risks. You will be provided with an opportunity to work in one of the exposure areas to help the team identify, assess and report risks to achieve optimal return outcomes for the Group.
Institutional Banking & Markets: services top tier corporate and government clients on their complex finance needs and advisory functions. They advise on critical issues surrounding debt and equity capital markets, risk management and transactional banking. Depending on which area of Institutional Banking & Markets that you are placed in, you could be assisting with performing financial analysis, financial modelling, preparation of

pitch books, undertaking research projects with supervision and the potential to sit in on client meetings, if the opportunity arises.

Areas interns may be placed in within the business:
Institutional Banking & Markets – based in Sydney
Risk Management – based in Sydney
Business Banking – based in Sydney (either focussing on smaller businesses or focussing on larger businesses)

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible to apply for our 2018-19 internship program, you must:
Be an Australian permanent resident or citizen at the time of application.
Be in the penultimate year of your university degree.
Have achieved at least a credit average (65%) across your university degree.
Shortlisted candidates may be required to participate in assessment centre and online testing processes facilitated by CBA.
Please note all successful candidates will have to complete a pre-employment medical check as part of their employment. This is a mandatory process but will not affect the hiring decision.
