| Development Officer Context Cooperatives of the Americas (formerly ACI-Americas) is the regional representation of the International Cooperative Alliance for the Americas. The Regional Office of the Americas was established in 1990 in San José, Costa Rica. Its main objective is to "promote the repositioning of the cooperative model in the new economic, political, social and commercial environment by supporting member organizations of the Alliance in the Americas in the dissemination and defense of cooperative identity, the promotion of business and development of human resources ". The Regional Office is the link between the cooperatives of the American continent and the global network, which facilitates their participation in specialized networks allowing them to get involved with the sector of their interest. In addition, it is responsible for implementing the decisions taken by the regional political bodies of Cooperatives of the Americas and executing the development projects. Development Officer

ContextCooperatives of the Americas (formerly ACI-Americas) is the regional representation of the International Cooperative Alliance for the Americas.

The Regional Office of the Americas was established in 1990 in San José, Costa Rica. Principle roles and responsabilities

The development officer will work under the administrative guidelines of the ICA-UE project, with the following main functions:

• Promote and support the formulation of proposals and the execution of projects with the contribution of the European Union to promote the participation, strengthening and dissemination of the cooperative model for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development within the project "Cooperatives in development: people centered business in action ".• Improve the capacity of cooperative leaders to promote and implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in their organizations and countries, build and exchange knowledge to ensure that professionals and decision makers at all levels can access knowledge and share their knowledge on all aspects of sustainable cooperation.• Establish relationships and networks of collaborations with other public and private actors profit and non profit of civil society and international organizations to achieve the goals and objectives assigned.• Formulate and execute development projects together with the members of Cooperatives of the Americas trough different actors of international cooperation and development assistance.• Lead the implementation of the "Regional Platform of the Americas: Cooperatives in Development", in coordination with the rest of the Project team; and guarantee the prompt and adequate development and operation of the platform to facilitate communication and the exchange of information.

Person Specifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in project management, strategic thinking, political science, international relations or a related field.• Minimum of 2-3 years (s) of experience in advocacy / formulation and management of international cooperation projects worked in the cooperative sector or in the civil society sector, preferably with a development focus and / or in an international organization.• Proven experience in project management.• Excellent command of Spanish, written and verbal.• Very good command of English, written and verbal.• Personality focused on the development of people and optimal natural attitude in communicating and giving visibility to the results acquired using social networks.• Good presentation, writing and negotiation skills, including the ability to prepare concept notes, previous studies, terms of reference, grant proposals, among others.• Be a citizen of a Country of the Americas Region or of an EU State.• Available for trips throughout the Americas and, finally, other regions of the International Cooperative Alliance.

Desirable

• Policy coordination proven experience, including external representation, drafting policies and recommendations, practical activism tools and translation of field experience at the EU level.• Knowledge of EU funding procedures and guidelines.• Demonstrated experience in creating networks and relationships with civil society organizations.• Full familiarity with word processing applications, spreadsheets and project financial programming• Command of the other languages of the Portuguese / French region
