We own and farm our vineyards: Poseidon Vineyard at sea level and Obsidian Ridge at elevation 2,640'. We cooper our own barrels with oak selected from the forests of Tokaj, Hungary. We craſt our wines in small lots, which is critical to our winemaking philosophy. Arpad Molnar, Peter Molnar & Michael Terrien POSEIDON VINEYARD lies at sea level, at the confluence of Carneros Creek and the Napa River. We’ve farmed this vineyard for more than forty years, from the time Nicholas Molnar planted the property in 1973, following his hunch that the region would produce great wines. Maritime fogs roll across this vineyard, blown in by cooling Pacific winds, and are then burned away by the generous California sun. is allows us to make our single-vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with balance and structure. OBSIDIAN RIDGE is our vineyard planted in 1999 on an abandoned walnut orchard along a ridge at the highest part of the Mayacamas Mountains at elevation 2,300' to 2,640'. At this altitude, colder temperatures and more intense sunlight mean harsher conditions for our vines. e vineyard’s red soils are also shot with obsidian glass and gravel, providing yet another fortunate hurdle for the vines. All this character-building struggle results in the rare and flavorful fruit that become our Obsidian Ridge wines. 2014 Poseidon Vineyard Estate Chardonnay CARNEROS NAPA VALLEY Brilliant in color with a pale straw hue, the wine opens up on the nose with aromas of sliced Granny Smith apples, cream soda and hard candies flavored with the essence of lemons and limes. ere's a mineral edge, reminiscent of wet stones, that adds complexity and intrigue. is wine's signature notes, full body, and rich mouthfeel are balanced midstream with lively acidity and freshness. 3,561 cases produced 8 months in 100% Kádár Hungary barrels, 30% new Alcohol 14.1% Poseidon Vineyard & Obsidian Ridge 2013 Poseidon Vineyard Estate Pinot Noir CARNEROS NAPA VALLEY Above the deep and gorgeous robe of color, our 2013 Estate Pinot Noir exhibits aromas of cherry and cola with hints of fruit, leather and undertones of plum. Focused black cherry flavors dance on the palate, and an elegant dash of vanilla sweetens the wine for a long, inviting finish. 1,625 cases produced 9 months in 100% Kádár Hungary barrels, 33% new Alcohol 13.8% 2012 Obsidian Ridge Estate Cabernet Sauvignon RED HILLS LAKE COUNTY e spicy aroma and structure comes from fruit picked later in the season, from the lower blocks of the vineyard at 2,300’. A small percent of Petit Verdot was added for aromatic intensity and volume. e young wines were placed in our Kádár Hungary barrels where they aged for 18 months. A rich and elegant offering, this is quintessential mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. e 2012 is certainly a crowd pleaser now, but will also reward the patient collector of fine Cabernet Sauvignon. 5,924 cases produced 18 months in 100% Kádár Hungary barrels, 50% new Alcohol 14.3%
