The Portrait Room is a boutique photography studio specialising in weddings and family portraiture. Our aim is to partner with our customers throughout the most meaningful stages of their life and to capture these moments for reflection for years to come.

—The saying goes “never work with children or animals” but at the Portrait Room we love nothing more than welcoming in newborn babies, children of all ages, pets or extended families. Our studio is warm and welcoming.

Our photographers enjoy spending time getting to know what makes their clients’ smile, it’s the key to happy family photography. We see people at all stages of their life enter our doors and the most rewarding experience for us is watching families grow and develop over the years and being part of it at every step of the way.

— Roger Kenny (BA Hons in Media Practices and Photography) founded The Portrait Room back in 2013 in order to provide a premium photography service to couples and families throughout the biggest milestones in their life. The high quality imagery is paired with a warm and friendly environment that is guaranteed to get the best out of each person in front of the camera.

Roger’s team has expanded over the past couple of years to include Studio Manager, Hannah and Cinematographer, Kevin. Together the Portrait Room crew offer a top of the range all-rounded service for every customer who walks through the door.

—The Portrait Room itself is based in the picturesque Delgany Village in Co. Wicklow. Our little haven is a warm and inviting space that allows guests to relax and be themselves in an unintimidating environment. Free parking means less stress on the day.

BOOKINGS & TIPS FOR THE DAY

BOOKING

Booking can be made by email, on the phone or even by popping into the studio. We’re open 7 days a week but appointments may need to be made in advance, especially for Saturday and Sunday appointments. The shoot takes one hour with a slideshow presentation the following week.

PRE-SHOOT CONSULTATION

We like to spend time with our customers to make sure we know what the most important shots are. This may be children by themselves, grandparents and grandchildren or the whole extended family together. Whatever the case, this will be the first priority on the shoot day and once captured the focus will move to individual or other group shots.

ADVICE FOR YOUNG CHILD AND PREGNANCY SHOOTS

Morning sessions are best when your child has lots of energy between snooze and snack time.

· Newborns may require some extra time before big brothers and sisters arrive.

· The best time for a pregnancy shoot is between 6 and 8 months.

· Toys and treats are fine but should not be given out until the end of the session.

WHAT TO WEAR

· This photo may be on your wall for quite a while so think about what to wear.

· Jeans and shirts are a good place to start, think smart / casual.

· Little boys and girls look great in bright colours, dresses, jeans and t-shirts.

· Newborns look best in just a nappy or our coloured and textured blankets.

· If you’re unsure, bring a spare outfit.

WHAT NOT TO WEAR

· Anything that will date the photo, for example logos or something overly busy.

· Clothes that are too tight may be unflattering.

Digital FilesWe are happy to post your digital photographs onto The Portrait Room Facebook Page where we can tag you and you can like / share the photos. We safely archive your photographs so that you can return and purchase any of your beautiful photos at later dates. The copyright of the photographs remain with RK Media, trading as The Portrait Room and we reserve the right to use the photographs in any of our printed or social promotional material including websites, blogs, posters, flyers etc.

FRAMING OPTIONS

We partner with Cherrylane Gallery on our framing, who provide long-lasting and timeless frames for our imagery. Each bespoke frame is handmade, environmentally sealed and protected to ensure both print and frame longevity.

Museum glass is non-reflective and gives the impression that there is no glass at all over the photograph. If you are placing your framed photographs in a bright room, this can stop distracting reflections.
