    LogosDate:June 8, 2013Course: Communications 130

    Instructor: Eric Lybbert

Objectives: Create a variety o logos to t a company using the

basic tools o Adobe Illustrator.Description: Three logo variations or the same company.

    Programs Used: Adobe Illustrator CS5

Process: I rst started by sketching out my ideas or the logo ona piece o paper. For the rst logo, I ound an outline o the stateo Washington and did a very simple outline with the pen tool. I

then created the squeegee by tracing an image with the pen tool.I created the background o the text portion by using the pen tool, and then put in the squeegee in order to try to make it look like awindow might look as you clean it.

For the second logo I made the sparkle look by creating an ovaland then going through the next steps: Eects -> Distort and

    Transorm -> Pucker and Bloat

For the third logo, I went through and made rectangles in order tomake a decent looking window outline, then made the dark bluebox and sent it behind the window rame. I then put in the text, selecting the bottom text and using Option+right arrow, in orderto give more spacing between each letter.

Programs Used: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign.

Process: I created the logo o the company using simple shapesand type in Adobe Illustrator. I then inserted that logo intoAdobe InDesign. For the letterhead, I decided to put the logo o

the company in the top right and the contact inormation on thelet side. I used the colored lines to tie it in with the business card,to give it that unied look. I used dierent ont sizes or the nameand the rest o the contact inormation, to give it a little bit ocontrast. I then used a simple window shape I made in Illustratorand lowered the opacity on it in order to make a watermark.

    Instructor: Eric Lybbert.

Objectives: Learn to manage Photoshop layers. Learn to blend

images together smoothly, using masks. Use lters. Applyappropriate typography.

Description: A new and resh inspirational poster created using acomposite o images and type.

    Programs Used: Adobe Photoshop

Process: For this project I decided to ocus on Michael Jordan

and his intensity (which was my motivation or using the volcanowith the lightning storm, hopeully that connection makes senseeven a little bit.) Ater collecting the two images rom GoogleImages, I set the volcano as the background, and then did a quickcut out o MJ with the lasso tool and moved it over. I then useda masking layer and the brush tool to blend MJ into the photo. Iapplied the Smudge Stick lter to Jordan, as I elt it gave it an

interesting look, but didnt ruin the overall look. I then added thequote to the image. I decided to contrast intense desire with therest o the type by changing the size o it.

Description: A photo I personally took and edited in Photoshop.

    Programs Used: Adobe Photoshop.

Process: I actually took this picture with my cell phone, and Iwas surprised how well it turned out. I opened it in Photoshopand changed the image size to 6x6, 150 resolution. I thenselected the entire image and desaturated. I then used a maskinglayer and the brush tool to bring back the color in the tree/leaves.It took a while, but using the dierent selection tools was just

not providing the results I wanted in selecting the sky behind theleaves.
