Walterdale Bridge ReplacementEdmonton, Alberta2013

Project Description

The Walterdale Bridge is a signature project for the City of Edmonton. The existing bridge is an integral part of the historic fabric of the city. The project is highly complex and multidisciplinary. The project was made challenging due to scheduling existing road ways, sacred first nation grounds, Queen Elizabeth Park, and the lack of existing connection to the river. Key goals to accomplish for this project were to provide a physical and sensory connection to the River, providing minimal impact to the river valley while providing a world class promenade, and public green space.

Rogers Place Schematic DesignEdmonton, Alberta2012

Project Description

Rogers Arena is a signiture piece of architecture and a key catalyst for the redevelopment of Edmonton’s downtown. A significant amount of stakeholder feed back and a complex urban environment made the schematic design of this project both exciting and challenging. Key components for the design included the public plaza, 104 avenue streetscape, 105 avenue public rink entrance, MacEwan LRT Station interface. The schematic design component included EDC submissions, renderings for public consultation, and up to 50% working drawings.

Edmonton River Valley Zoo | The WandererEdmonton, Alberta2012-13

Project Description

The Wanderer expansion is a major addition to the Edmonton Valley Zoo, which included a new entry feature, plaza, numerous interpretive feature, walking trails, animal enclosures, and wetlands. The design team created an intricate paving pattern and flowing design to the hardscape providing a rich and immersive experience to the end users. The design was formed by including all eco-regions within Alberta. Creating a relationship between the environment and the public was paramount for the Wanderer expansion.

Royal Alberta MuseumEdmonton, Alberta2014

Brief Project Description

The relocation of the Royal Alberta Museum to the city’s downtown offers a once in generation opportunity to provide amenities that are culturally and socially significant to the citizens of Edmonton. Design features include the Alberta Arboretum, an outdoor stage, garden patio, and entrance plazas. This project had two specific site conditions that provided challenges: existing LRT lines under the site, creating a situation where meticulous planning from numerous design disciplines were required. Second, nearly 25% of the site design falls outside of the property line, creating a situation where MISA was a crucial part of the design process.

Role within the project

• Key member of the MISA submission team• Edmonton Design Committee Submission• Team lead on construction drawing team• Contributed to project specifications package• Site modeling• Presentation graphics and renderings

104 Avenue Redevelopment | Thesis ProjectEdmonton, Alberta2011

Project Description

For my undergraduate Thesis, I explored the 104 Avenue arterial road. The 104 Avenue corridor between 109 Street and 102 Street provided a great opportunity to provide a walkable pedestrian focused corridor that works in harmony with vehicular traffic. Using numerous case studies from major metropolitan centres including: Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco I synthesized a metric for design principles that informed they layout of this proposal Critical analysis and attention to both the demographics and uses of the 104 Avenue corridor were essential. I applied the metric to create a schematic design package and presentation.

Brief Project Description

A new home in the MaGrath neighbourhood requested a full design and installation. The architectural controls for the project are very specific and environmentally sensitive. Working within architectural controls, homeowner mandates and site constraints offered unique challenges and opportunities. Key design features include a custom fire table/ water feature, pergola with built-in waterfall, privacy screen with vertical garden and stainless steel accents, and the incorporation of an existing greenbelt within the property.
