Site_Less Alcoa, Tn 3rd yr - 2nd sem. Prof. Hansjoerg Goeritz
After studying Tennessee vernacular architecture and Post-Atomic era houses such as the Case Study houses, the studio’s challenge was to design a Post-Fossil Fuel era house. The name Site_Less comes from the goal to make a house from a Kit-of-Parts that can be adapted to a variety of sites as long as the house faces south. The Kit-of-Parts is made from all commercial building materials like plywood SIPs, metal insulated roof panels, structural steel and precast concrete slabs.

LEAP_CollaborativeKnoxville, TN 4th yr - 1st sem. Prof. Bob French
As an integrations studio project for an Architecture/Engineering fi rm, the building was mainly an experiment in structure, construction techniques + building systems. All structural members are made from plasma cut fl at plate steel welded to make a triangular truss. These truss units are pieced together to make the larger occupiable truss façade.
Wolfsonian Social ClubMiami, FL 4th yr - 2nd sem. Prof. Mark Schimmenti
The Wolfsonian Museum in Miami, FL has a collection of Industrial Age objects from 1885-1945 with a focus on how designed objects can infl uence society, history and technology. The Social Club is an exhibition/gallery space ,research library, and fellowship apartments with a restaurant/bar on the ground fl oor. The structure is a concrete column-beam grid with the program pieces as volumes attached to the grid. The Exhibition Hall is made from the negative space of all the other volumes.
UT Development Council Award4th yr - 1st sem.
Unlike the traditional award model of a base, plaque and an arbitrary object, the goal was to make an award where the “plaque” is the object of focus and everything else exists to support it.

After looking at iconic lounge chairs like the Barcelona, PK25 + PK22, the fl aws found were that they all required special materials and construction techniques and they are awkward + diffi cult to transport. The design intent was to make a chair using only Off-the-Shelf materials, simple constructions and ability to be easily disassembled. The chair can be fl at shipped in a box as thin as 1.5” and assembled with only an Allen wrench.
