During the performance

This action took place during a residency at ArsKozara in Kozara National Park in Bosnia i Herzegovina. I spent two week building a shelter out of natural material collected around the forest. The process of building a shelter with a primitive method, is a metaphor for the need, even if fictional, of a return to primitivism now lost in our society. The decision to create a hut like that comes from the primordial human need to create a protective structure around him.

Water doesn’t have any shape, it takes the shape of the container it is in. This work is a metaphor that indicates a specific geographic area north of Milan, Brianza.It doesn’t have borders and it is not recognize with a political power. It just exist and if you ask the people that live there they would confirm it.

Cornago is a small town, full of histoy and traditions and we tell about it. one more thing, it doesn’t exist. We were asked to install and exhibition at Villa Zoia in Concorezzo, a provincial town near Milan and decided to play with the people telling them the story of a place that was supposed to be around the area they have been living in for a long time. It took about half of the innauguration event for the people to understand that Cornago wasn’t real.

The proposed work is a multi-channel video installation, therein impute is the story told by the italian partisan Aldo Giassi and then shown to three other people of the next generation in which I asked them to re-tell what they saw and heard.With the four screen the various narratives layers are played together to show the public every story at the same time, creating a recurrence which is never the same and inevitably highlighting the differences between generations.

The work tells a story. The story of the Italian victory in the Davis Cup in 1976 where the two players decided to play the final against Chile with two red shirts, symbol of the mothers and wives of Chilean’s desaparencidos, in a stadium militarized by Pinochet’s army.
