Renovation and Expansion of Sha Tang Yuan Dining Hall of the campus canteen, attempted to betransformed from the original dining hall to a comprehensive campus activity center. Based on learnigfrom master Yang Tingbao, the designer of Sha Tang Yuan, it is required to make function planningaccording to needs of the present, and to grasp the principles and methods of designing compundfunctional of the buildings.
The existed design of the campus canteen such as the façade, the roof, and the structres can`t beremove or demolish. Its such a challenge for the architect to maintain the present principles design thatwas build before. The study design methods are to combine between old structures with new structuresas well as creating new space idea, function, and site. Also study the procedure of analysis of the sitewithin the campus complex environment, and the relationship between the old buildings and the newbuildings.

GREEN DESIGN COMMUNITY CENTERThe Mix use building for people around Nanjing Jiefang gate, near Xuanwu lake Academic work April – June 2013Tutor : Dong Ling
The site is located near the city wall of Nanjing. The surrounding area are apartments and thesmall lake, its good way for the building the build a new community for the site since before thearea is just old district. “Brought back” the community is the main purpose of the building togather everyone around such as the people who lived in the apartments. Since in people in Chinaare like to use their time in the outside to communicate with each other and also especially for thefamily with the kids. So that the community center that mixed with lots of public functions such asrestaurant, library, squares, etc,, can be the one point of activity center.
The basic “triangle” shape was given for thesite. Creating the big square facing throughthe lake for the outside activity andsurrounded by the functions. While the southpart is the main street of the site providingwith the access and entrance to theCommunity. To make the building accessibleis the main concern of the design sincelocated in the open community to makeeasier access from one place to another.
