ABOUT ME

I am a Copenhagen based artist and illustrator. I have studied graphic design and illustration at the Royal Dan-ish Design School, but my enthusiasm for visual communication began as a child. From the moment my hands were big enough to hold a pencil, I drew – and my fascination to unfold myself visually has only become greater with my age.

My universe is simple, classy and minimalistic, and I often deal with conveying difficult emotions in a simple way. I try to cut to the chase without unnecessary strokes, and in each of my drawings there is a desire to convey a dif-ficult subject as simple as possible as well as a desire to build bridges between my illustrations and my audience through recognition and understanding.

“I have always been interested in people and their emotions – both the rational and the irrational. In my work I often use my own emotions and myself as a standpoint, but a lot of people recognizes themselves in my work. I think its crucial that we don’t hide or overrule our emotions, but that we dare to acknowledge them as a part of life. My drawings can be seen as a simple tool to get a bit closer to our own feelings.”

with a fragile mind.

In Denmark one out of three people experience a psychiatric disease at some point. Almost two million

people. Furthermore does the relatives suffer from the disease as well. Despite of this, the subject, and the

many people it is affecting, is still strongly stigmatized and met with taboo. Every small step we take in order to understand the fragile mind a bit better, is a step in

a direction of a healthier and more inclusive society. This book is one of those steps.

SÅRBARE SIND, 2015Sårbare Sind is a request to open up. To speak up. To listen. To talk together. To inklude and pay attention to others and through that gain an greater understanding of the life with a psychistric diagnosis. I’ve met, interviewed and disseminated the stories of seven brave people, who all live a live with a psychiatric diagnosis. The seven stories creates an insight to life with a psychiatric diagnosis. It provides people who wants to know more about the fragile mind a chance to understand it better, but is also a request for others with a mental disease to have the currage to come forward and tell their story.

In this book I am confronting my prejudices and fears of nursing homes. I moved in to the nursing home Slottet and lived there for seven days, in order to study the world and the lives that were lived behind the walls of the nursing home.

PLEJEHJEM, 2013The books shows my personal experiences from my stay – both the good and the bad. In small texts and

simple drawings I try to pass on my small observa-tions. Combined all my observations create a greater

picture of the world of food on trays, pills in bags and wheelchairs in lines, which I met during my days at

the nursing home. The illustrations are almost sketcy, but at the same time fragile and the texts are written with my own hand writing, all in attempt to keep the

feeling of a personal delivery.

COPENHAGEN ARTRUN, 2014Mural for Copenhagen Art Run.

Copenhagen Art Run is a run, where the participants are presented for a various selection of arts, while running its 5 km route. In 2014 I did this enormous piece, which was placed around the finishing line. The piece measures 2.5 x 3.5 meter. The huge drawing didn’t just work as a part of the run’s art collection, but also as a photo wall, where the runners could have their picture taken. The wall’s enormous illustration is made from small figures, that the participants could explore, while waiting in the finish area.

COPENHAGEN COMICS, 2015Mural created for Copenhagen Comics for their children’s area in 2015. The wall consists of a three-meter wide background and forty small figures. The figures are stickers, and thus can be moved around in the large landscape.

SOFAKOMPAGNIET, 2015With the title Those who dare did the illustrator Bine Jo Mortensen and I decorated one couch each for Sofakomkagniet. My small figures molds to the curves of the couch and if you sit on the couch you sit among thousands of little monsters.
