Description:A letterhead that matches both an original logo and business card that I created.

Date: 6/15/2004

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 - Section 10Emily Kunz

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign

Objectives:To create a letterhead that matches both an original logo as well as an original business card that I created.

Process: 1. I started this by creating the logo in Adobe Illustrator. I used the draw tool and the basic shape tools to create it. I outlined a picture of seagull with the draw tool. I then added the square shape and two triangle shapes which I colored in. I then added my title. I experimented with the font until I got the right two for it.2. My second task was my water mark. I pulled an example off a website and made it my own by outlining with the draw tool and shifting it so that it was mine. I added my seagull once again to get repetition.3. I put both my logo and my watermark on my stationary page. I shifted them around until I liked where I had them. I added the name and information for my fictional character. I modeled the font and colors after my logo. I then added a water background I found online. I pushed it behind the rest of my elements and dimmed it so it wouldn’t take away from the rest of my stationary.4. Last I created the matching business card.

Objectives:To create a business card with a front and back that matches the logo I created as well as a stationary page that I created.

Process: 1. I started this by creating the logo in Adobe Illustrator. I used the draw tool and the basic shape tools to create it. I outlined a picture of seagull with the draw tool. I pulled an example off a website and made it my own by outlining with the draw tool and shifting it so that it was mine. I added my seagull once again to get repetition.3. I created my stationary next.4. Next I worked on my business card. This was the simplest part. To one side I added my the water background and my watermark which I dimmed even further in order to bring out the name and information of my character. On the other side of my business card I added my logo. I made it larger and cut off two of the sides which I felt really helped to bring out not only the seagull but also the title.

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 - Section 10Emily Kunz

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:To flawlessly put two photos together so they look as though they belong together.

Process: 1. I searched for images that would get my message across.2. I cropped my first image to 8.5 x 11.3. I added a mask to my beach image and used a small, black brush to darken it gradually to give it a darker feel.4. I cut out the image of Death’s Kiss and placed it on top of my beach image.5. With a medium brush of 40% opacity and faded out the edges of the statue until only the statue was visible. I also faded the statue so that you could see background through it.6. I added two types of typography to bring out the title then I used Drop Shadow and Bevel and Emboss to bring out the words.

Description:This is a trifold brochure.

Date: 7/12/2014

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 - Section 10Emily Kunz

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Photoshop, Adobo Illustrator, Adobe InDesign

Objectives:To create a brochure with an original logo using all three programs with Adobe.

Process: I created my logo using the Trace tool on a photo and outlining it with the pen tool. Then I added the text and outlined it so that I could manipulate it into something more unique.

I created an outline of what I wanted my brochure to eventually look like then I took photos from online and manipulated them in Photoshop to bring out their best features. I fit them into frames that worked with my brochure.

The next thing I did was lay out the format for my tri fold. To do this I used the ruler tool to place where my folds lay The next thing I did was layout the squares for where everything was going to lay for my brochure according to the roughdraft that I’d made. I placed the pictures and colors into the different boxes. I then created the text I was going to later add in a Word document. I made some of my photos more rounded as my project had far too many boxes. I gave my title some more personality. I used the pen tool to add decoration to my title page as well. I added all my text in, using the paragraph tool in order to format both my paragraphs and my headers. I added a second font to my brochure to give it more personality, editing my headers in the paragraph tool so that they would be the same across the board.

Description:This is a web page created to showcase my favorite logo from my own collection.

Date: 6/28/2014

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 - Section 10Emily Kunz

Program(s)/Tools: Notepad++ and Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:To create a webpage that showcases my favorite original logo.

Process: I used Notepad++ to create the webpage. It’s something I’ve had practice with before though this is only my third webpage I’ve created and my absolute favorite. With notepad++ I created the web site to display the content I wrote. I used several different HTML tags such as p and ol to create the effect.

I then went in and edited the style sheet demo provided for us. I played around with it, switching out colors and taking out and adding different parts of it. I used the colors from my logo in the rest of the webpage. I got them from opening up Adobe Illustrator and using the color edit tool to look at the color number from it. I took out the code that gave the header and the body of the HTML rounded ends so that my website would have sharp corners to contrast my already rounded corner logo. I also added bold to the first lines on each of my ul so that I would have contrast in each. I then matched my body font to the font in my logo which is Palatino Linotype giving several backup fonts just in case. My header font was then given the san serif of Adobe Fan Heiti Std B to contrast the serif font given to my body paragraphs with backup fonts given just in case. The last thing I did to the style sheet was add color to my a so that it would match the rest of my document.

Description:This is a black and white flyer that promotes a graduate leadership conference.

Date: 5/11/2014

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 - Section 10Emily Kunz

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe InDesign

Objectives:Create a flyer using only gray scale and speciific information as well as a picture from a limited amount of picture options.

Process: My process began with a few sketches. I checked to see everything I needed to include in my project, which was a picture, a logo, a dtp, and a couple of paragraphs of explanation, then I drew some ideas to go along with these requirements. After I drew these I began to consider some FOCUS principles. I wanted to make it stand out but in a professional manner which I felt befit then project so I added circles into the layout to contrast the other elements and draw the eye throughout the flyer. I also added contrast in the value of my flyer. The circles are a light grey which brings out the black of the squares and the words. I also used two different types of font, one was Oldstyle and the other was Sans Serif which was a perfect contrast and they worked well together to give my flyer a very professional look. I also used Adobe InDesign to create my flyer.

Description:A color full-bleed event ad to promote a fundraiser using only Microsoft Word and a scanner.

Date: 5/18/2014

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 - Section 10Emily Kunz

Program(s)/Tools: Microsoft Word

Objectives:To create an Event Ad using only Word.

Process: I began my thought process by flipping through a magazine. I looked through all the pictures until I came across one that inspired me. I then proceeded to draw a couple of sketches to gain some inspiration. What really helped, however, was adding my picture to a Word document and playing around with different shapes and squares. I then proceeded to play with the different colors, that is I tried different combinations of colors until I came across a happy but driven enough color combination that would get my message to my audience.

Description:This is a photo design project made to showcase good photography and design skills.

Date: 5/25/2014

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 - Section 10Emily Kunz

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:To use an original picture to use Photoshop to create a design shocasing the photo.

Process: I began my process by looking over the different colors I wanted to use in my design. After choosing a few options of colors that I wanted to work with I went out on a hunt for my perfect picture. I was taking pictures of different nature scenes when I came across bees pollinating. Gold and purple were two of the colors I absolutely wanted to work with. I then took at least twenty pictures of these five bees buzzing around these flowers. Although I didn’t get stung, it would have been worth it. After words, I considered my pictures and inserted my absolute favorite. I then worked in my sketches which ultimately turned into my design. I showed my rough draft to my peers and they pointed out a few things it was missing. I immediately edited it quite a lot and finally came out with a much more whimsical result.

Description:Three different logos for the same unicorn plush company.

Date: 6/8/2014

Course/Instructor:Comm 130 - Section 10Emily Kunz

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe Illustrator

Objectives:To create different logos and expand my skills in creating them with both Illustrator and creating different types of logos.

Process: This was a lot of effort and a lot of fun. I used shape tools such as the ellipse, square, and star to create the basic shapes. From there I grabbed onto the edges and morphed them into the correct shapes needed. I also added color to each of the shapes. For me, the font was easy. There was only one that I felt fit this project so I fit it into each of my logos.
