With the introduction of technology, a virtual space has been

created that removes the physical restraints of public space,

allowing for different types of free interaction and evolved

the discourse space beyond that of the built environment.

But this progression in technology has had a negative

impact on how people socially interact within the public

sphere, ultimately discouraging physical interaction and

communication. So as technology inevitably continues to

evolve, how do we utilize it as an asset to begin to merge

this virtual reality with the built environment, in a way that

encourages more interactivity and discourse in the built

urban context? Our project aims to establish new forms of

environments that set the stage for community engagement,

entertainment, recreation, knowledge sharing and political

discourse. E-Sports is the element that provides the best

opportunity to test new public space programming that

addresses the major issues created b

technology and capitalizes on the dra

has in terms of expanding the researc

social potential of the city of Suwon. O

To bring about this vision of having a vibrant, entertainment

oriented development for Suwon, It was important to

first establish a strong public corridor that would not only

support a new flow of concentrated pedestrian oriented

activity in and around the site, but would more importantly

be capable of hosting new dynamic forms of spatial

programming. Therefore e are also proposing the pedestrian

passage as well as the bike rental system to be a method

of collecting the kinetic energy. E-car charging stations

will be also located so ultimately we envision eco-friendly

mobility circulation on site. The commercial area, e-sport

complex, and other programs encouraging these dynamic

activity and interaction between users will be located along

the corridor. The elevated platform and a main corridor

will be a connector of these and other programs along the

corridor. The public realm will become integrated throughout

the architecture, making it more feasi

to become an integral social space fo

    surrounding communities with one an

flow of people by connecting various

for both public and private spaces to

    users needs.

The E-Sports Complex will become an iconic destination

point that promotes active interaction between diverse users

of all social and age groups. Programming for the complex

includes a sports and entertainment stadium, gaming gallery,

planetarium, and flex spaces that all help to establish an

active environment geared towards providing opportunities for

    learning and engagement.

So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will

not take the initiative to change their situation because they are

conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism .....

The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences,

and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing

horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

The center portion of the boardwalk will utilize the existing

boardwalk system that will lead to the Expo Park. A decking

    Public Space

Public space is parallel to the boardwalk corridor that

accommodates the ground level pedestrian fl ow. Connecting

to the waterfront, major east-west corridor will gradually bring

flows from Flushing through bar street amenities to stadium

plaza. Adjacent to a stadium plaza, there is a commercial

corridor that is a large opening space for commercial. Mix-use

core development. All corridors are linked back to parking to

start with the Dutch Reformed Church that would act as a

catalyst to future spinoffs in the Historic District. Restored

This proposal aggregates three NYCHA sites into one

20 acre campus, spanning from the beach to the bay:

Gravesend, ODwyer Gardens and Surfside Gardens. The

plan envisions a pedestrian greenway that traverses from the

beach at Coney Island Houses and courses north through

ODwyer Gardens, Surfside Gardens, and Gravesend to

Gravesend Bay. This walkway would be paved with porous

paving, bordered by bioswales and trees, and would assist

in conveying significant volumes of water to mitigate storms

large and small. The central space in ODwyer Gardens

would be transformed into an urban plaza, with a depressed

water storage area (Water Square) and porous paving areas

to further capture in excess of 500,000 gallons of runoff,

including rainwater from the roofs of adjacent buildings. It

is envisioned that the ground floor of the buildings on this

square could be used for retail or business incubator uses,

    providing jobs and economic activity

strategy. At Surfside Gardens, an are

converted to a high performance recr

    underground water storage tanks, pro

recreation area for the residents and a

    storage underneath the open space.
