My name is Jochem Chaouat. I am a graduate student from the faculty of Architecture. At the beginning of July 2016 I finished my master nominally at the TU Delft. Now I
want to start working at an innovating architectural firm.
During my bachelor and master I have done volunteer work for various organizations, such as the Aangeschoten Wild Festival in Delft. Through this I developed different
soft skills. As a student assistant and by doing projects next to my studies I acquired much experience with different modeling and design programs. This is also visible in my graduation project where a parametric Grasshopper scripting is combined with a design of Revit. This requires a flexible and versatile approach. In this case, Maya is the
software program that brings the design to life in an animation.
With every project I continue to challenge and develop myself. In three words I would like to define myself as open minded, dynamic and precise person.
This portfolio shows a selection of my work.

This my graduation project which I finished the first of July of 2016.
The project is focussed on the trans-formation of structural vacant office buildings to nearly zero energy apart-ments. In this design I include a hotel functions and atria which connect the different functions.
The Earth Wind and Fire system makes this transformation possible by gener-ating natural ventilation and warmth for heating. These elements are included in the design and create the symbioses between architecture and technology.

For this project we, a group of 10 students, were to design a refugee shelter made of cardboard. A good analysis of the strengths and weak-nesses was the base of the project. We included many sustainable systems to generate cooling and heating.
The building of the project in scale 1:1 was very interesting and a great experi-ence.

This project was focussed on the integration of engeneering and archi-tecture. For this design I created a parametric model in grasshopper which analysed the (old) building volume and creates a traingulated facade for the shape while integrating a technical system that creates natrual aircontion-iong called ‘’Earth, Wind and Fire’’ (Ben Bronsema). The added construction and skin carried al the nessecary technical equipment and the added floor weight.
The amount of depth the project reached in only five weeks was very inspiring and I was very pleased with the result.

I was the student assistant for three years for the Design Engineering department of Industrial Design at the TU Delft. They asked me to assist in the transformation of their office space. Me and a fellow designer created this design which is now being built by a contractor. The users where part of the design process and the same counts for the design of the furniture for the secretariat. This desk and cabinet are currently being custom built by a car-penter.
Making sure that the users feel con-nected to the design process and the final design was a challenge. I am look-ing forward to the completion of the construction.
