A combinatoric/crowdsourcing solution utilizing a gaming engine to design a building system to carry information. For this particular project, interweaving piping units, inscribed in rhombic dodecahedron, were aggregated to carry essentials to plants, demonstrating the potentials of combinatorics and crowdsourcing in creating working systems, yet aesthetically intriguing.

A piping unit inscribed in rhombic dodecahedron -with its perfect packing characteristic- connects seamlessly with each others, creating opportunities for various pattern pattern discoveries while serving as agents to carry essentials to plants.

Supplemental unites were designed to circulate the essentials through the system and bring back the waste to the filter to be fed back into the system.

Redevelopment of an abandoned commercial building and an adjacent parking lot as a new housing complex and a community park to regain the real estate value of the Historic Core, Los Angeles.


Connecting the traffic of Spring St. and Main St. by a community park in an attempt to bring together the energy and activities of the surroundings

Re-modeling of a former-commercial building into an apartment complex, stretching from Spring St. to the community park.

An existing library re-designing project to incorporate larger community space and larger collection of books. Solution: Concrete service towers and steel truss bridges to create column-less spaces for flexible layouts.

QUESTION: What would a shopping mall look like if it is built on top of an abandoned gravel pit in San Bernardino County, located in Greater Los Angeles area?

ANSWER: The shopping mall will be a symbol of the power and speed. It will symbolize the capitalism and automobile transportation and how humans are capable to leave a big scar on the face of the earth.


HIGH CULTURE GARDEN to remind ourselves of the giant gravel pit which left a huge scar on the surface of the earth.


Our capability and speed, represented by the parking structures in the air, being the most visible elements on the site.


The parking structures are lifted off the ground by the truss system.
