Final Project Board for experimental design based on concept of flight. Jet planes were used for inspiration. The title comes from plane terminology and ailerons are the flaps on the wings that control direction. The board contains 5 sketches, front and back flats, a color story, background image, and ideas for fabrics.

Experimental Design: Aileron

Experimental Design: Beguiled in Benin

Fashion proposal consisting of a look based off of an issue (political, social, environmental, etc.) and architecture that incorporates the entire theme. The title refers to Benin, the country in Africa in which a woman working for Peace Corp. was brutally murdered. My issue involved the Peace Corp. and how they tried to cover up this murder, along with 22 others that have occured in the last 50 years. The jack-et’s hood represents the mysterious shroud around Peace Corp.’s secrecy and the fact that the mouth is covered shows how those victims cannot speak out for themselves.

Experimental Design: Crescendo

Fashion proposal consisting of an armor-like look based on an object to rep-resent a greater theme: in my case, a gown made of whistles that represents music and the happiness it brings listeners.

Experimental Design: Slick

Fashion proposal consisting of a neutral-colored look based on a pliable, non-textile material that meant something important to your past. In my case, silicone from a swim cap because I have been a swimmer my entire life and I have both lovely and bittersweet memories.

Fashion Illustrations

Color Marker figure sketches using the “Rearrange Scamper Method.” The mesh in the bathing suits is rearranged to help create new ideations.

Page 8: Portfolio for Natori

Color Marker figure sketches using the “Magnify Scamper Method.” The jacket sleeves, jacket length, and dress length all get longer. This method is used to help keep price in mind when designing. The more fabric used, the more expensive the garments.
