,,With this year’s topic of “TXL transformati-
on”, their challenge was to develop a quar-
ter made from a new typology of hybrid-buil-
dings, containing a manufacture (production
hall), flats and retail services after closing
the airport Berlin Tegel in the year 2014.
This winning concept focuses on using the
production facilities after hours as a leisure
destination. [...] The spatial scale, in conjunc-
tion with the apartment units nearby, are the
ideal conditions and simultaneously remove
the separation of work and living.“

,,The accuracy of the analysis of the Luisen-
Block project in Berlin is notable. The well-
sorted plans give a quick impression of the
complex situation at the site. The design
convinces because of the elegance with
which the additional buildings were com-
posed into the uneasy shape of the site
by keeping the important historical buil-
dings. But also the chosen materials and
the visualisations prove how professional
the design process had been carried out.“
