For almost a decade I’ve been dreaming up big digital dreams and seeing them to completion, designing dozens of mobile app experiences and scores of websites. It’s my driving goal to break down the barriers between digital interfaces and human interactions in order to create more meaningful experiences.

Invention, Marketing, and Design have traditionally been siloed into separate departments. It’s my passion to break down barriers through radical collaboration and see them fused together creating increasingly remarkable product experiences.

It’s my desire to go beyond the mere “what” and “how” of design, and connect with others at the heart of human motivations - the “why.”

Beautiful and simple user experiences require an in-depth discovery phase to ensure I have a high level plan and detailed blueprint for a successful project. This phase mitigates risk and speeds up delivery. Wireframes, user stories, technical requirements, prototyping, and user testing are just a few elements of the involved processes needed to create a remarkable product.

CanWeNetwork is a mobile app for iOS and Android for business networking. It uses geo-spatial technology and a powerful matching engine to recommend people nearby who you should meet for professional networking and business opportunities. In an Agile sprint environment I worked closely with iOS and Android developers to rapid prototype, conduct field tests, and develop a strong information architecture.

The Texas Historical Landmarks app provides access to detailed historical information from over 14,000 state monuments and attractions. It’s a beautiful and simple-to-use guide to the state’s famous attractions and an educational journey through Texas. This is an example of iOS 7 UI featuring an interactive geolocation map. It is representative of several apps I’ve worked on keeping strong adherence to Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines.

This fully responsive, parallax, single page scrolling site is the public face of a mobile design startup venture I founded called retr.io. The website was a recipient of Awwwards.com honorable mention. As creative director and founder or retr.io I oversaw business development, helped to implement an Agile process, managed a team of designers, and spearheaded creative innovation.

Power2Talk.org is an example of my mobile web app development chops. It was built for the Texas Department of State Health Services to provide on-the-go assistance to parents, arming them with the tools to start conversations with their children about some of life’s most difficult subjects. It’s optimized for iOS 5 and Android 3.0 based devices and coded in clean standard-compliant HTML5, CSS3, and JQuery. This project also included a child facing web app called Power2Wait.

He approaches every project with a sound creative perspective coupled with the prowess of a marketer. Aaron has demonstrated on numerous occasions that he can take a complex idea and develop a solution that went beyond a client’s expectations, including my own. His vigor and collaboration will be missed.”

Etienne HouseknechtDirector, International Marketing at Monster Energy

“Aaron was the most valuable asset on my team while employed at Appiction. He is the jack of all trades! He has so much knowledge about the mobile world, marketing, social media, and web development, that he greatly influenced me to learn more. Aaron would be very valuable to anyone that employs him. He works very well within a team and is great to collaborate with. Aaron’s vast background knowledge helped many of the designers at Appiction solve problems and make the user experience the best that it could be.
