URBAN PLANING IN RIO DE JANEIROPROFESSOR SÉRGIO MAGALHAES- FAU-UFRJ
The second semester in FAU-UFRJ was essentially orient-edfor urban planning. We needed to study, restructure and create new infrastructures in order to improve a problematic area in the periphery of Rio de Janeiro. After a long analysis, it was selected three main areas for intervention, of which I chose to highlight the train station. The station is the main link of this urban area with the rest of the city and was in precarious conditions. The biggest prob-lem found was his enclosure in relation to the environment, with high walls around and difficult crossing from side to side of the neighborhood. One of the solutions found was to remove the walls and replace this physical limit of water for long mirrors, allowing visual contact with the other side through the station. The other was to build a wooded walkway linking the stadium sports, the anchor of this urban area, and a new living, recreation and restoration space located on the opposite side.
COMPETITIONPARIS MARKET LAB
ArchMedium proposed the creation of a new restaurant concept - “Paris Market Lab”. During the day the Market Lab will work as a cook-ing school, becoming a five star restaurant during the night that will sever experimental recipes elaborated by the master chefs and their students. The site was strategically located close to the Sain-Germain market at the heart of Paris, forcing the new design to integrate and dialogue with the history and the urban planning that surrounds it.
Apparently mimicking the surrounding, the proposal’s façade expresses a relation with the previous and existing buildings. This connection is clear during the day with the façade highlighted in contrast with the dark glazing. But at night, the light inside reveals its true structure. The kitchens act as the core of the building. All the vertical accesses are in this inner circle that creates a continuous path from stair to stair leading to the different kitchen modules. These are connected through oval cutouts defining a continuous collective space in opposition to the several quiet dinning rooms.

The first internship that I made in Switzerland was at Helle Archi-tektur, starting in September 2011 and lasting for six months. I worked mostly in renovation projects, from the reconstruction of an office building to the remodeling of a private house. I took part too of a housing competition, whose entry got the first place. During this internship I made several cad drafting, modeling, mapping of existing buildings, materials and products survey.

In May 2012, I started an internship at Gut & Schoep Architek-ten, where I'm currently working.I worked in a few competitions of different kind like housing, urban plan-ning, public facilities. In one of the competitions where I took part the office proposal was ranked fifth out of a fifty entry list. In other competi-tion for a school renovation, the office proposal got the first prize and consequent commission, project on which I have been working since then. Among the different tasks I did design research and develop-ment for competitions, construction detailing, 3D modeling and render-ing and submission documents such as the SIA 416.
