INTERNATIONAL CONTEST WONDERLAD - CASA OZYear: Summer Internship, 2014Program Pr: Children HospitalTeam Project: StudioFRA Unit Scale: 1:100, 1:50, 1:20Location: Catania, ItalyGiven Program: The project aims to achieve a unique space area for children suffering from a malady (i.e. Down syndrome), for instance to alternative treat-ments they experience playing while beeing supervised as well as leisure and study groups.THE HOUSE: will be the area which will be located the main common functions and activities of patientsMULTIFUNCTIONAL SPACE: represented by a hall that can host a total of up to 250 people for concerts, events, even small daily activities of the guests.PROTECTED GARDEN: creates the greatest connection with natural environment, where children can walk or play while being away from danger.PARKING SPACE: The area is reserved for cars and buses with a capacity of 80 cars, establishes a connection with the environment, minimizing the use of bituminous components encouraging the use of the green space.

We have created a place that can accommodate young patients and their families for 365 days a year.

WonderLAD’ s existant functions interact perfectly with the new structures: HOUSE - MULTIFUNCTIONAL SPACE - GARDEN, will offer people an unique experience, which allows various activities. This project is built with a sustainable technology, offering hospitality and interaction with the with the environment (these activities are vital for people suffering from various maladies).

The internal and external areas are designed so that they can be extended at a later date to accommodate more patients.

WonderLAD, will not only be a place for treating children deseases, but also a place of mutual help. This was our vision, in addition to the other requirements identified in the competition announcement.

• Creating a fully integrated photovoltaic system on the residences’ roofs that generates approximately 25kW. The energy stored in batteries and operated with the invention, will produce all the energy needed for the houses, multifunctional space and the outdoor spaces. Excess energy can be exchanged within the administrative network.

The garden design has an important role because it is reserved for guests of the house, but products grown (vegetables) may be made available to the public. The garden can be expanded over time, thus creating new orthogonal forms, which will allow users to learn a bit about the marketing experience of local products. External visitors will have the opportunity to buy traditional products of this part of Sicily directly from small farmers. This area will expand in the south-east of the house and resume cultivation of indigenous vegetables such as strawberries, potatoes, zucchini, but also fruit trees, olive groves, almond and citrus. The perimeter is made of cypress (with windbreak function).

The whole design concept is based on energy considerations. To reduce energy use as much as possible and achieve optimal energy performance levels, the following solutions were implemented :

• reducing energy consumption by using low consumption lighting (LED)

• Having an integrated electric control system to allow for optimum energy consumption and eliminate waste

•Underfloor air cooling system to that circulates cool water from a cooler powered by PV energy products .

• Photovoltaic system

• Underfloor heating sys-tem that uses solar energy to heat the water.

• Creating a high performance building without thermal bridging through a properly designed strategy for high temperatures, which involves using wood, wood fiber insulation, cork and ventilated wall.

ISOVER MuLtI - COMfORt HOUSE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS CONTESTEDITION 2014: SCHOOL OF tOMORROw - GazIantEp

Year: 5th, semester 2,2014-2015Type: Concept Design Eco TechnologyProgram Project: SchoolTeam Project: 3 personsUnit Scale: 1:100, 1:20Location: Gaziantep, TurkeyGiven Program: The school aims to achieve integration to surrounding natural and cultural environment. Emphasis should be placed on feasibility, which in turn requires structurally effective and cost-efficient solutions. The schools’ outdoor space should be designed in an environmentally friendly way, including pedagogical elements such as a bio-garden, biotope, playground.THE SCHOOL: will be the area where the main common functions and activities for children will be located.PROTECTED GARDEN: creates the greatest connection with the natural environment, where children can walk or play while being supervised.PARKING SPACE: The area is reserved for parent’s cars and buses, only for a limited time.

All activities centered around an inner courtyard illus-trate a traditional construction model for Gazantep.

The courtyard is the out-door play area, well protected, because the nurseries are locat-ed near two streets.

The building was designed to perfectly integrate with the slope of the site, so little intervention was needed - The red dotted line represents the initial slope of the site.

Ramps create a conection between various parts of the bulding. By connecting different areas, a fluid traffic is created and allowing for direct access.

On the ground floor is the reception area with multifunctional rooms, equipped for exhibitions or events. A second part of the ground floor is dedicated to the administration and teachers.

Classrooms are grouped in small numbers, 2-3, with multifunctional playing areas inbetween

ECO TECHNOLOGY SYSTEMS

In this projects are implemented renewable energy sources, which work together to reduce and even eliminate the consumption of electricity from the national grid. Thus, in this proposal are presented:

1) Natural Ventilation

1) Solar energy - evidenced by solar panels;

2) Wind power - evidenced by wind turbines3) Geothermal energy;

4) Hydrogen Fuel - water splitting;

5)Water recycling;

Year: 5th , semester 1, 2013- 2014Type: Concept Design Architectural Program Project: Office TowerTeam Project: IndividualUnit Scale: 1:100

Should we build an office tower in a historic center? But nevertheless remain “invisible”? Can we use a special technique use it in war to become a building invisible? Should it have at the 1st floor public spaces for students, for workers and for people who lived arround this area? Can we create an qualitative space in an office tower? Can we have fresh air and terraces with plants at every 4th floor? How is it when you have a meeting session in a fully grazed space at 22 floor? But especially how it is the view of the city when you have dinner at 130m altitude?

Location: Timpuri Noi, Bucharest, RomaniaGiven Program: Working with a proposal detail urban planning for 2025 and with a site which has approxi-mately 13000 square meters. Special attention to - Public space and how it works with the office towers.

How can we have a relevant lecture of a city who has a long history? How do we approach the city in the 21st century, a city which cannot be captured in just one “image”? Can we in some way create a framework of the city, for the city? Can we then conceive our research process as a story, were we first read the city in its multiplicity - Reading the city.Some part could show us an interesting story which we then can try to understand - Understanding the city.Only after Reading and Understanding the city we can continue writing the story an contribute to the city - Writing the city.

Year: 4th , semester 2, 2012 - 2013Type: Concept Architectural DesignProgram Project: Intercultural Library CenterTeam Project: 4 persons

Location: piazza Croci , Palermo, ItalyGiven Program: The design a City Library in a main site which has approximately 1800 square meters ,starting of the main goals identified in urban plan analysis
