EXISTING SITE CONDITIONS

iNVENTORY ANALYSIS

In the fall of 2013, The University of Georgia's College of Environment and Design partnered with the Albany Museum of Art to help genereate design ideas for a redevelopment project of the Museum's grounds. The main component of the redesign was to be an outdoor sculpture garden large enough to host up to 200 guests at one time. Other elements such as parking availability, connections to the nearby college, and main entry design were also considered when designing the entirety of the property. Upon completion of the designs, the directors of the Museum traveled to Athens and chose a select few to present their design solutions to the group. Miy project, along with two other students' work, were chosen to explain our design process and fi nal concepts to the client.

Courtland Ridge: A Neotraditional Neighborhood

Courtland Ridge is not simply another suburban community but instead a neighborhood designed to promote meaning-ful connections between residents and to their surrounding environments. This neighborhood retains the benefi ts of owning private property but combines that with the perks of open public green spaces and picturesque landscape views. Courtland Ridge preserves over fi fty percent of Watkinsville's scenic wooded landscape while providing 156 residential lots with a variety of square footage. The conserved woodlands is has made it available for resident's recreational enjoyment through radiating bike and walking traims that stem from a central public park,.

The Abadeer Residence was designed as part of an infi ll housing project conducted in a historic neighborhood in Athens. The lot which was specifi cally designed for an older social couple, provides the residents with a variety of spaces to host and entertain their guests: two hardscaped locations and two grassed areas, (all of varying sizes.) The choice of house, which features a detached garage, allows the couple the opportunity to appreciate the grounds through a scenic driveway that runs through the property.

"Some have the gift to change and change again in many forms, like Proteus, creature of the encircling seas, who sometimes seemed a lad, sometimes a lion, sometimes a snake men feared to touch, sometimes a charging boar, or else a sharp-horned bull; often

he was a stone, often a tree, or feigning fl owing water seemed a river or water's opposite a fl ame of fi re."

View of Sedona Red Rocks

The Mogollon was named after the escarpment that outlines the colorado plateau region and divides the state of Arizona. Sedona, sits at the base of the Mogollon Rim and is known for the unique Schned-bly Hill Rock Formations that frame the surrounding landscape. The design of the Mogollon Resrot Pool celebrates this uniquely Sedona feature by providing magnifi cent views of the red standstone towers from the 40,000 sq. ft pool deck. The design of the pool is rectangular in shape to mimic the structural nature of the Red Rocks, while the white pool furniture and sheer tents contrast the Red Rock's saturated colors of orange and red.
