LIVING CITY01santa monica
This project was based on reinventing the idea of communal living and the impact it has on public space. A private program, loft spaces, and a public program, hotel spaces, are integrated together through vertical hierarchy of programmatic op-tions. Lower level programs were con-sidered more public ranging to more private in higher level programs. This concept allows for the divisibility between public and private spaces while still inte-grating both through public amenities.

Located in Los Angeles next to Echo
Park, this project focused on the de-
velopment of a civic center based on
the vertical organization of commu-
nity programs. The concept was de-
rived from the deformation of one of
the simplest forms, a cube. The cube
was manipulated through cutting, twist-
ing, adding and subtracting volumes
of space in order to generate circula-
tion throughout the program, which
became an important component in
this project. Which is then perforated
to help connect views and programs.

The Aquatic Centre will serve as an architectural component with an urban strategy to connect the Stratford area to the Olympic park, unifying both the town and country. The concept of integration between landscape and building was used to represent the relationship be-tween form, function, and ecology. Multiple studies of framed spaces lead to the reconstruction of the site; taking the site and lifting up to frame various views along the axis with an existing cross axis as a con-nection between the city and site.
