PHILOSOPHY
Lux et Veritas Design is collaborative studio of professional lighting designers focused on ensuring excellence in lighting. We use a holistic approach to strike a balance between the aesthetic goals of Architects and Interior Designers with the practical concerns of Developers, Owners and Operators. We provide creative solutions to sculpt spaces with light through the integration of innovative lighting and controls technologies. At the same time, we focus equally on budget, program requirements, long-term maintenance and energy conservation.
In an effort to maintain a satisfied Client base, we emphasize project qualityand attention to detail. Our work reflects a comprehensive and thoroughlydetail-oriented design process using state of the art software and relentless coordination techniques to ensure the most minute details are successfully implemented. We also perform in-house peer reviews to ensure our ability to deliver quality and accurate documentation.
Our experience working on over 100 hospitality and resort venues worldwidehas given us the expertise in the highly specialized program and planningrequirements of hotels. In addition, we do work on a variety of project types which ensures a fresh approach to each project. Lux et Veritas Design is also proud to be a Woman Owned Business Enterprise serving our community.
What sets us apart from our competitors is our drive to maintain the integrity of our lighting design. We have found that the only way to do this consistently is to rigorously follow the budgeting process. We develop relationships with Contractors, Distributors, Electrical Contractors and Sales Agents in the local markets. This allows us to navigate the complex lighting procurement process and ensure our access to accurate costs. We then drive the pricing which results in a quality lighting designs using quality products tailored for specific project needs. We believe our repeat client base and award winning projects are a testament to the success of our core approach.

Hilary Wainer, Principal
Founding Principal, Hilary Wainer has focused her career on luxury hospitality venues, spas, restaurants and convention centers worldwide for over a decade. She has worked on landmark projects such as the Mandarin Oriental, New York, the Four Seasons’ Gresham Palace in Budapest and The Jumeirah Meydan, the world’s first 5-star trackside hotel located in Dubai. She has over 100 hotels in her portfolio in a dozen countries around the globe. She has additionally collaborated on numerous other project types such as aquariums, museums, airports, mixed-use developments and retail. Ms. Wainer is an Associate Member of both the International Association of Lighting Designers and the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America. She has been a Lighting Certified Professional for over a decade in addition to being a LEED Accredited Professional for Building Design and Construction.

Coda at Technology Square - Atlanta, Georgia
The mixed use development debuts an unprecedented “Class T” collaborative building including a high performance computing center located in Atlanta’s Tech Square. The approximately 750,000 square-foot mixed-use project represents a $375 million investment amongst Technology Square at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Within the development, 620,000 square feet will be office space designed to enable unparalleled collaboration between research and industry. Georgia Tech will occupy about half the office space. Nearly 40,000 square feet of retail space, including the adaptive reuse of the historic Crum & Forster building, will be activated by a plaza, which will become a local gathering place and outdoor living room for Tech Square and Midtown Atlanta. The development also includes an approximately 80,000 square-foot data center designed by Gensler.

Amador Performing Arts Center - Panama City, Panama
Located next to the Museum Gehry at the entrance to the Panama Canal, and near the Biomuseo of Diversity, the Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP) is building a new iconic Performing Arts Center, Convention & Banquet Hall Complex. Lux et Veritas is designing lighting for the exterior facades and for the interior spaces of the entire 57,000 square meter complex, including a performing arts center, 16 meeting rooms, a 15,000 square meter exhibition hall, registration area, banquet hall, prefunction areas, and a 4,000 square meter multipurpose room. Currently, there are over 600 hotel facilities in Panama to support the center’s activities, as well as a new terminal at the Tocumen airport, a new subway system, and the Canal expansion, which the ATP hopes will work in tandem to establish Panama as the business event destination of choice in Latin America.

Hilton Hotel - West Palm Beach, Florida
The Hilton Hotel fills out the final piece of an urban master plan in West Palm Beach. A 400-room luxury oasis, it is anything but a conventional convention center hotel. This thirteen-story, 143 ft. tall building infuses nautical elements throughout including in its impressive, 1300 piece art collection. The lobby features an inspiring custom backlit ceiling at the reception area that opens up to a double height lobby with an extraordinary undulating chandelier. This lobby view ultimately reveals the property’s most impressive feature which is the tranquil pool deck sitting alongside a world class restaurant, dining terrace and lively bar.

Dubai Aquarium
The Dubai Aquarium has the largest continuous glass window inside one of the largest shopping malls in the world. From inside a forty meter long underwater viewing tunnel, visitors receive an intimate experience with exotic ocean life. A 45 minute lighting simulation from dawn to dusk made this the world’s first tank with a theatrical show.

Philips Arena - Atlanta, GA
The Atlanta Hawks, as part of a joint venture with the Atlanta-Fulton County Recreation Authority ownership, are furnishing a major overhaul of the 18-year-old Philips Arena in Atlanta that is designed to become a focal point of the multi-billion-dollar downtown sports and entertainment destination planned for “The Gulch” area of the city. The $192.5 mil-lion dollar renovation, sponsored by the Hawks and using public funds generated mainly by airport car rental taxes, currently hosts about 170 events per year, and will serve as a home for the Hawks through the year 2046.
Amenities will include expanded sight-lines to the basketball court, a court side bar, Top Golf simulation suites, open party decks, VIP suites and premium clubs, a meeting and con-ference center, numerous dining options of all varieties, and also sponsored areas such as Killer Mike’s SWAG Shop and Zac Brown’s Atlanta Social Club for musical performances. The multi-level, open concept spatial layout will be balanced with more intimate, hospitality-style lounges for every crowd.

Piedmont Hospital - Atlanta, Georgia
The $603 million, 16-story tower addition to Piedmont Hospital, located on “Cardiac Hill” at the intersection of Peachtree and Collier roads, will house over 400 patient beds, 10 operating rooms, a dozen individual labs, a glass-walled, light-filled open entrance lobby, and a multi-level landscaped park entry. The Marcus Heart and Vascular Center, named for major donor and Home Depot Co-Founder Bernie Marcus, will replace the demolished Sheffield building and expand hospital capacity with state-of-the-art facilities designed to accommodate a growing Buckhead / Atlanta Metro Area population.
Marcus Tower is slated for completion at the 10-story level by 2021, with additional floors to be added yearly though the final estimated completion date of 2026. Many of the hospital’s cur-rent buildings have continued to operate past their approximate 40 year expected use spans, and medical teams and patients will welcome the 870,000 square feet of new construction and 46,000 square feet of renovations that this large-scale project provides.

The Meydan Jumeirah
Located at the Nad Al Sheba Racing Club in Dubai, Jumeirah Hotels’ The Meydan is the world’s first five-star trackside hotel. The prime location allows spectators to enjoy the exhilarating action of the racing season from the comfort of private hotel balconies.
Nearly one-quarter of a mile long with a towering eleven story atrium, the nearly 25,000 feet of LED cove lighting in an uninterrupted zig-zag pattern add an impressive design feature to the space. In addition, the five luxury restaurants and bars serve as relaxing and elegant venues from which to enjoy the race.

International Finance Center (IFC) - Seoul, South Korea
The IFC, located in Seoul, South Korea, consists of a 500,000 square meter mixed-use integrated commercial development. Made up of office towers, a Conrad hotel, and the IFC Mall Seoul, it is one of the first large-scale developments in Korea, led by an international consortium. It is part of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s plan to rejuvenate the Yeouido area as a regional financial hub.

Al Mafraq
Located in Abu Dhabi , the 745-bed hospital is distinguished architecturally by four patient towers designed in a prominent, contemporary style to mirror the reputation of the quality of the hospital’s healthcare. The new hospital offers a unique experience for medical staff and patients as it sets the standard for modern healing environments.
Each tower contains approximately 30 single rooms per floor, and each floor features nursing stations and patient control centers. VIP and Royal floors cater to patients requiring additional privacy and attention. Tasked with the mission of bringing a residential, serene feel to an environment mandating numerous strict program requirements, Ms. Wainer’s responsibilities included the typical patient room, VIP and Royal levels.

Gresham Palace - Four Seasons - Budapest
The landmark Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace in Budapest is an $85m redevelopment of the historic Gresham Palace with 179 guestrooms, two restaurants, meeting and conference facilities as well as a spa. The hotel lobby includes a modern stunning glass chandelier with hand blown crystal leaves supplied by Preciosa lighting. Impressive art nouveau wrought iron pieces, mosaics, ceramics and Frank Lloyd Wright custom glass panels make this building truly a one of kind historical gem. The façade restoration included the installation of an extensive façade lighting program carving a prominent place on Budapest’s night skyline.

Grand Hyatt - Hainan
Located on the island of Hainan off the Southern coast of China, CITIC Pacific’s massive 7,500,000 square meter includes residential condominiums, private residences and a stunning new Grand Hyatt Resort Hotel. Wainer’s design responsibilities included interior, exterior building and landscape lighting for the entire resort and residential component. The project is scheduled for completion in 2014.

This new, five star, 500 key Hyatt hotel at Incheon International Airport will complement the existing Hyatt Regency Hotel also owned by Korean Air. Wainer designed lighting for the interior, exterior building facades and site. Projected to be the first LEED Gold Hotel in Korea, the building is scheduled for completion in 2013.

A five-star hotel facility, the Grand Hyatt Incheon can accommodate over 1000 guests. The hotel offers a full service spa, indoor pool, business center, health club, bar/lounge, coffee shop along with an extensive conference facility and event center. Dramatic pockets of feature walls and ceil-ings carefully integrated with dramatic layers of lighting bring a clean, modern, zen feeling to this property.

Located in the heart of the Buckhead neighborhood, this 20 story tall building, at the time of its completion in 2008, set a new precedent in luxury highrise apartment living. Hilary Wainer, lead designer, created a 5-Star feel for the lighting in the lobby public spaces, pool deck and exterior building lighting.

Virginia Beach Convention Center
The city of Virginia Beach came to SOM Chicago in search of an iconic convention center to reinvent the city’s skyline. The building later became the first existing building in the US to achieve LEED Gold certification.
The 500,000+ square foot center includes 50,000 square feet of meeting space and a 31,000 square foot ballroom. The ballroom features impressive, custom curved acoustic wood ceiling bands of backlit translucent, polycarbonate panels. 5,000 linear feet of color changing LED fixtures created an innovative approach in lieu of chandeliers.

Loews’ Sapphire Falls Resort at Universal - Orlando, Florida
Lux et Veritas Design developed the complete interior, site, and landscape illumination plan for the new Loews Sapphire Falls Resort at Universal Orlando®. The Caribbean-inspired retreat has been designed around a network of dramatic water features, including a two-story waterfall and a waterwheel. Guests can enjoy the festive indoor and outdoor restaurants, bars, expansive fitness center, lively children’s play area, water slide, and full amenities surrounding the resort’s 1,000 guest rooms and suites.

Gateway Renaissance Hotel - Atlanta, Georgia
The Renaissance Gateway Hotel ajacent to the Atlanta Airport is a 204-key hotel geared to-wards the millennial business traveler. Hotel amenities include ballroom and meeting facilities, a full-service southern-fare restaurant, signature bar featuring a variety of seating options, and an outdoor landscaped courtyard with a custom water fountain and fire-pit tables.
The design team worked closely with the developer, Grove Street Partners, to design this luxury hotel as a Renaissance brand standard for the hotel operator, Marriott Corporation in tandem with Rottet Studios as the Interior Designer.
Clean lines of light throughout the spaces complement the crisp minimalist Interior Design. Custom Chandeliers by Lasvit Lighting make lobby a memorable event.
