DESCRIPTION

Complete portfolio ivan pecorari update until september 2011 WHO I AM? Meeting in the middle I’m curious designer pursuing the holistic approach to design and to life I’m exploring the intersection between interaction design and architecture creating systems, spaces, installations, events, that are hybrid, poetic and playful. Every project is a world itself and each game has its own rules but no project is an island so my hand is on detail but my eyes see the bigger picture. My formal training is in architecture, interaction design and also include graphic design and events production in a kaleidoscopic mix of skills. I recently earned an MFA degree from Domus Academy, Milan and also hold an M. arch II degree from Biagio Rossetti University school of Architecture,Ferrara and a course in Digital Architecture from Inarch Rome.

PROFILE

In a world shifting between the analog and the digital, Studio Roosegaarde creates interactive artworks that explore the dynamic relation between space, people, and technology. As laboratory for interactive projects, the studio develops its own technology and design and is internationally known for interactive artworks such as Dune and Sustainable Dance Floor.

Studio Roosegaarde is the home of artist Daan Roosegaarde and his team of designers and engineers. By creating interactive artworks that instinctively respond to sound and movement, artist and architect Daan Roosegaarde explores the dawn of a new nature that is evolving from technological innovations.

Recent artworks have been the focus of exhibitions at the Tate Modern, the National Museum in Tokyo, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Studio Roosegaarde also has a strong focus on public artworks, including special commissions for the City of Rotterdam and the Youth Therapy Center GGz in Breda, NL.

Recently Studio Roosegaarde launched its second studio in Shanghai, CN.

The idea behind The Abyss project was to build a system and then let everyone contribute, with a good balance between individual and collaborative work. Students could build new creatures or expand features of the abyss itself. For beginners it was easy enough to contribute with a basic creature, more advanced students could train their graphic skills or even build creatures which interacted with other creatures. After several requests I decided to publish the (far from perfect) source code of The Abyss. I left a few of my own example creatures but student’s creatures are not included as I didn’t ask their permission to publish the code.

Creature rules

-Extend the SuperCreature class and build your own creature.-Allowed colors are white with alpha shades. Not a strict rule.-Each creature must implement the “move()” and “draw()” methods. (see the SuperCreature class for details).-Transforms should use the pos, rot, sca vectors.-Animations can be timed with frames or actual time.-The name of the new creature class is built with the authors initals and the creature name -The .pde file must have the same name of the class -Insert your name, the creature name and the version in the constructor

This project aims to develop a system around the visitor experience of the museum Berrocal in Villanueva de Algaidas, Malaga, Spain. With the intention to highlight and unfold the deep identity of Berrocal sculptures, I developed a modular system around every exhibited artworks. The system is composed of four main stations: General Display, Edutainment, Workshop, Life of Berrocal, each one of these stations explore contents by mean of specific interaction modalities. The set-up is flexible: according to the sculpture, different stations are available. The identity of an art piece is provoking; it changes and is modified by visitors’ action inside the exhibition space in a sort of continuous dialogue that leaves behind traces of human passage. This system is intended to track and record these traces, as a complement to the visit and to personalize the content delivered to the visitor. Moreover, the system allows visitors to touch the sculpture, in order to discover where their tactile interest lies and to preserve the authentic sculpture’s purpose to be an haptic artwork.

This project titled “GO, Co-Kart!” aims to develop an interactive service for a new grocery shopping experience, which responds to a community as a new kind of identity and it opens the possibility of companies as participants or sponsors of this system. The intension is to establish new ways of interactions between the members of a neighborhood giving a community sense and rewarding them in different ways for it. The project is composeof an interactive toolkit: community Kart and Kart Stack, whichis control and manage from your mobile or computer through a web/mobile application. To maintain a constant communication between them and between the community itself, the Kart has a display and has installed a barcode scanning system, an RFID system and Bluetooth which enables a better time management for yourself and for/between the people in the community. As for the application system, it is divided between Tasks and Sharingsystems in which you receive points for making your friendsgroceries (for example) or on the other way for sharing your goods. These points are accumulated and, eventually, translated into discounts or coupons on the different participant stores. As a value, it propose different benefits for the different players (user, company, community). The user will economize money and time in different occasions and as an indirect effect it’ll trigger social interactions; on the other hand, the stakeholder will have costumer’s fidelity. This system could serve as an strategy of consumerism with the different advertisements and it’ll have behavior tracking; and at the last, the community will have a “sense” of community with an Identity Icon, which have been lost through the years.

The main project deals with the further development of the Meet the Media Guru conference. Three parts have been predefined as ON-AIR, ON-GOING and ON THE ROAD. This project deals with the ON-GOING section that can be summarized as the span between each event and the continuos flow of information generated from the community as well as the provider.

The focus is to develop a platform that can solve twoissues: The first one is browsing & collecting data on the conference website. How can the knowledge be accessed and what are the tools to make a coherent collection with immediate output?

The second the question is, how to engage the community in open discussions to extend the duration of the conference and involve people prior to theconference.

This knowledge base platform investigates a digital enhanced experience in order to create a community approach synchronously and dynamically with the context of any event.

‘I Blush Sometimes’ explores the relationship between ourphysiological bodily reactions and our psychological perceptions.Derived from the idea of attraction, our piece responds to the respiratory rate of the wearer by visually showing the physical state of the body. Our garment acts as a biofeedback loop; allowing theperson to be aware of their bodily state and therefore control the output by regulating their breathing. ‘I Blush Sometimes’ is a conceptual project that transforms the visual of the dress in direct correspondence to the wearers emotions.

Music creates a common language between people. We want to create a musical experience platform that pro-vides triggers to conviviality moments in social events. We are dividing the sound inits different instruments or tracks of recording. The guests will be recomposing the music through their social behavior in space as they.Guests will be given a loudspeaker, which plays the instru-ment of their choice. The temporary musicians can change the style of music e.g. from Reggae to Jazz to Rock, these styles represented by glowing color of the object. All the experiences are being recorded through the system and can be accessed and reproduced by the guests after the event.

[2008] Reggio Film Festival/ Reggio Emiliawww.reggiofilmfestival.it

We created an environmental camera obscura. The camera obscura is an optical device used, for exam-ple, in drawing or for entertainment. It is one of the inven-tions leading to photography. The principle can be demonstrated with a box with a hole in one side (the box may be room-sized, or hangar sized). Light from a scene passes through the hole and strikes a surface where it is reproduced, in color, and upside-down. The image’s perspective is accurate. The image can be projected onto paper, which when traced can produce a highly accurate representation.

[2008] International competition: Toddler and infant School PratoArchitecture has a pedagogic nature. In a Project the relation between the spaces , the ambients and details design converses with our sensorial competencies. A particular light cut, a juxtaposition of two materials, the chromatic and tactile landscape are occasions of auto-learning. The humanity grow and formed through critical interchange of informations with the surrounding; the poly sensorial experience, that we have made in childhood, are essential for personal formation. In reason of this the design of a infant school should be more careful about the environment an physic character-istics of the building.

[2007] Hall of Dadong Art CenterTaiwain

Dadong Art center is based in Kaoshung county in the economic heart of southern Taiwan. Located between a park and the historic Feng Shuan city, the Da Dong Art Center links the open park and the dense historical city by a sequence of public spaces. The intensive use of public space by activities as dance, Tai-Chi and various games characterize outdoor use in Taiwanese cities. A membrane roof creates a shaded condition for a wide range of activities. The roof shape prevents against extreme climatic conditions such as Taifun, periodically strong rain and high summer temperature. Wide holes in the roof guide the water to inner springs. Warm air rises to the top roof openings generating a fresh inner draft. The educative purpose of the art center is supported by a range of semi cultural indoor and outdoor activities.
