Tote Backpack
Tote BackpackDesigned as a cross between a traditional tote bag and a backpack, the Tote backpack is a new approach to functionality. Crafted from high grade canvas duck and lined with a polymer coated waterproof liner, the Tote backpack is designed to last.

Tote BackpackIdeation of details
Awning grade canvas duck was sourced for the main body due to its durability and style. Accents are done in lighter weight canvas, leather and brass.

Tote BackpackLessons Learned
Due to the relative simple construction the Tote backpack. Doing a paper model fi rst would have been an ideal way to get a visual on the proportions which had to be later amended and shrunk.
CAN DESIGN SAVE A RIDERS LIFE?
Moto Down
The golden hour refers to a time period lasting from a few minutes to several hours following traumatic injury being sustained by a casualty, during which there is the highest likelihood that prompt medical treatment will prevent death. It is well established that the victim’s chances of survival are greatest if they receive care within a short period of time after a severe injury.

MOTO DOWN
DetectMoto Down module located at the base of the helmet detects sudden changes in G-Force through the onboard 3-Axis Accelerometer
TransmitThe helmet module produces a low frequency local signal directed at the Moto Down mobile application on a smart-phone.
AlertThe Moto Down mobile application compiles GPS coordinates and contacts nearest Emergency Services. If the rider is uninjured they must deactivate the service.
Moto DownProcess
The Moto Down system works by assessing changes in G-force during an accident and sends that information to the mobile interface. The mobile interface requires the rider to indicate whether emergency services are needed.

MOTO DOWNmoto downMobile Interface
The mobile interface works in conjunction with the module via 2.4 gigahertz proprietary protocol signal. When a certain G-force limit is reached a signal is sent to the mobile interface. The user must swipe gesture across the screen to deactivate. If no deactivation is sensed a signal will be sent to the nearest emergency response system.

Mobile Interface
The primary benefi t of the Moto Down system is the ability to remotely contact emergency services in case of emergency. Interface A provides the basic information for emergency services to locate the downed rider and basic medical information. Interface B provides emergency contact information for the downed rider.

Moto DownUsers
Moto Down is designed for men, from 35 to 55 years old. They are educated professionals and are married. They are aware and enjoy new technologies. They often ride alone.

K ikuchi Table
Kikuchi TableDesigned with regards to material usage, the Kikuchi Table is side table constructed of recycled aluminum and FSC birch plywood. It is constructed of one rectangular piece of aluminum which is scored and folded into position.

Kikuchi TableThe pieces for the table can be shipped fl at to reduce costs and environmental impact. The aluminum body is easily folded along the pre-cut perforations. The wooden insert is assembled with screws.
Kikuchi TableLesson Learned
To increase the ease of fabricating I would have perforated the metal either by laser or water jet. Perforations would have made the folds much easier. The body would have been sturdier and less prone to twisting had a thicker gauge aluminum been used.
Reach Lamp
reach LampRooms lacking adequate overhead lighting benefi t from added lamps. The Long Neck Lamp is designed to occupy minimal fl oor space and deliver maximum light coverage.
reach lampThe defi ciencies of over-head lighting is the lack of adequate light spread. The Reach lamp is designed with a focus on fi lling out the light balance in poorly lit rooms without the loss of valuable fl oor space.

Reach LampThe fabrication process focused on the usability of the Reach lamp. The Reach is manufactured as a component system to allow for fl at -packability and ease of assembly.
Reach LampLesson Learned
To reduce the amount of fl ex a thicker walled tubing would be more ideal.
