Orange Peal Celebrating 30 years of service to our Community

Award Winning Publication

The end of this month closes another fiscal year of the Port Orange Lodge

and in my opinion a highly successful year both from a Lodge and Elkdom

overview. At the Lodge level we are a profitable and successful home

away from home. This is due to the bold and timely direction from the

House Committee. They have ensured that we are delivering quality and

profitable lounge food and drinks in a clean and comfortable environment.

Also through the efforts of our members with their positive welcoming

attitude, the negativism is almost gone and in its wake is a tidal wave of

fun loving positive attitudes and a true spirit of wanting to enjoy everyone’s

company.

We are still facing a negative growth this year but we still have a chance to

swing it to the positive side. By paying our dues for the upcoming year, our

lapsation number will be reduced. So if you haven’t paid your dues

PLEASE DO SO NOW!

A separate personal thanks goes to my officers who have supported me

and the Lodge through their dedication to their offices.

Elk of the Month recognizes the dedicated volunteers who have unselfishly

donated their time and efforts to keep the Lodge running smoothly.

Fraternally, Frank Kuczkowski Exalted Ruler

Congratulations to our Volunteers, our March Elks of the Month.

This month our choice of Elk of the Month is all of the volunteers that no one notices. The members who show up for Meals on Wheels, driving, cooking and delivering. The ones who work in the kitchen, the ones who do all the repairs on Wednesday. Also, those who support all of our many charities. Without these volunteers, where would the lodge be. Thank you to all.

Betty was our February 2017 Elk of the Month. We did not have a photo at time of press.

Congratulations Betty! Thanks for all you do!

Congratulations to Joseph Driggers, representing Port Orange Lodge #2723 in the State Hoop Shoot. Joseph came in first with 23/25 hoops in the Boys 12-13 age group. From here Joseph will go to the Regional Hoop shoot in Valdosta, GA. The winner from the Regional will go to the National Championship. Good Luck Joseph! L-R: Lou Greci, Lodge Hoop Shoot Chair, Wesley and Shannon Driggers, Joseph Driggers, Adam Driggers and Angelo Cretella, ECDVP.

Congratulations to Peggy Bertoli

First and foremost, congratulations to both Peggy and George Bertoli for regaining their health and being able to come back to the lodge. It was so great to see their smiling

faces again!

Now...on to the official stuff! ER Frank Kuczkowski congratulates Peggy Bertoli and presents her with the Grand Exalted Ruler’s

Award Pin for excellence in membership procurement for our Lodge.

Thanks for all you do, Peggy!

WHAT WE ARE HEARING!

Our Lodge members take time from their holidays to help with Meals on

Wheels to make sure seniors have a hot meal. We consistently are told by the seniors how much they enjoy our meals and how good they are. They are so excited when we deliver. Thank you to all who participate with this project and help the seniors in our community. We have the best volunteers ever!!!!!

ELKS TAKE 2nd PLACE IN CHILI COOK OFF

Sneaky little devil...our “chef” member Sam Santos entered a chili cook off

without anyone knowing.

On Saturday, February 18, 2017 the Port Orange Elks Lodge #2723 was

entered in a Chili Cook Off at the Emery Bennett Nursing Home. Out of 15 contestants the Elks came in 2nd

place. But the best part of the whole thing was that we were able to raise

$500 for the Veterans Home.
