As we welcome autumn, we are excited to begin planning for Oktoberfest, Halloween, and Thanksgiving. Oktoberfest (officially) commences on Friday, September 21 st and concludes on Sunday, October 7 th . We are proud to have a variety of heritages at the Port and we will be celebrating this German festivity with a variety of activities. We’ll be featuring our special Wiener schnitzel, a specialty offered only during this time of year at the Port. Chef Randy is busy preparing the culinary staff to make this delightful dish as authentic as possible. We will also be introducing a new cheesecake. A specialty for fall, we will feature Pumpkin Pecan Cheesecake with Maple Bourbon Cream Filling. Can you say: “YUM!” (Try not to salivate too much on the keyboard or paper as you read this). Join us for a wonderful night of musical entertainment, prizes, and awards. You’ll have a “spooktacular” time. We are already getting excited looking forward to another year of hosting our Thanksgiving Day Buffet. Welcome! We are proud to present our Early-Fall Edition of the Port Edward Newsletter. With the temperatures becoming more

moderate, leaves beginning to change colors, and the emergence of various holiday promotions, we are in full swing and ready to

embrace the majestic upcoming seasons.

As we welcome autumn, we are excited to begin planning for Oktoberfest, Halloween, and Thanksgiving. Oktoberfest (officially) commences on Friday, September 21st and concludes on Sunday, October 7th. A specialty for fall, we will feature Pumpkin Pecan

Cheesecake with Maple Bourbon Cream Filling. Can you say: “YUM!” (Try not to salivate too much on the keyboard or paper as you read this). Look for this new dessert to premiere in late September and be amongst the first of our guests to sample this scrumptious dessert.

For all of you Halloween fans out there, don’t forget we fully embrace the celebration at the Port. We’ll start getting all of the decorations ready and up in just a few short weeks and then the fun begins. We’ll premier new fall “brews” (cocktails), all of “witch” are sure to embrace the transition into a new “spell” (season). We’ll be hosting our annual Costume Party on Saturday, October 27, and will have prizes for the Best, 2nd, and 3rd best dressed by popular vote in the Salem Lounge. Plus we’ll have door prizes for those lucky enough to arrive early in the evening. The entire staff participates and will be dressed to the nines in some of the most unique, comical costumes (wait until you see what some of them have planned, you’re in for a treat). Join us for a wonderful night of musical entertainment, prizes, and awards. You’ll have a “spooktacular” time.

We are already getting excited looking forward to another year of hosting our Thanksgiving Day Buffet. On Thanksgiving Day we will be open from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm for our annual buffet featuring all of the traditional provisions and of course, signature favorites. We do apologize in advance, but there will be no menu option available on Thanksgiving Day. With our vast size, and unique setting, Port Edward is able to accommodate approximately 450 guests at any given time and

we can house almost any size party with advanced notice. Be sure to call early as reservations are always recommended and will go quickly. Speaking of large volumes of people, have you considered your plans for your annual Christmas party? Port Edward is the perfect location and can customize a banquet party entirely for your needs. Lee Ann has a full list of options that are available including tailoring a specialty menu for your guests or arranging a selection of entrées for a buffet. Plus, a special promotion we are doing this year, for a limited time only, we will take 10% off of the food portion of your check if you book a party on any weeknight. Remember, we will be CLOSED on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so be sure to plan your parties early and accordingly. Lee Ann can provide full details and availability. She can be reached Tuesday through Saturday after 3:30 pm or at her email: [email protected] for questions and information.

While we don’t want to push the season too far, too fast, we want to make sure we provide our guests with the latest information about upcoming events. We know many people begin making their arrangements for New Years Eve quite early. This year we will have our favorite group playing in the Salem Lounge, The Hudson McCoy Band! Join Mike, Jim, Joey, and Kiffer for a spectacular evening and don’t forget about our annual Midnight Toast with Complimentary Champagne! This is always a fun filled, packed night and we cannot wait to celebrate with our many friends, family, and guests.

Don’t forget, the texting club is active. You can text “Join” or “Subscribe” to (847) 629-0039 to be among the first of our guests to receive exclusive news, deals, and specials. Standard messaging fees apply, but we promise not to inundate your inbox. This is a great way to stay connected to the Port and be in the “inner circle” of the latest happenings. We will also use the texting and email clubs to send alerts out about emergency closings (hopefully never applicable) and important information if needed. As many of you know, Port Edward has always enjoyed participating in community events. We host the Algonquin Rotary every Wednesday morning, we provide a pre-parade brunch for the Founder’s Days dignitaries every year, and also contribute to as many organizations as we can. One that is very near to our hearts this year is the 26Th Annual Thanksgiving Food Basket Project sponsored by the L.I.T.H. Women’s League. This proud organization is helping to provide for families in L.I.T.H., Algonquin, and Huntley who are experiencing financial need. Port Edward will be helping to collect food for this movement and all contributions will be greatly appreciated. Everything donated to this project goes to the families; everything comes from an all- volunteer effort. Last year the Women’s League was able to provide “baskets” to 320 families, 1,276 individuals, and is hoping

to top it this year. Please help us to aid the League in reaching their goal. We will be collecting items throughout the next few months. Thank you for taking part in helping others and for your generosity in helping humanity. As the weather cools, and the various holidays approach, remember to take time to spend time with those you love. There is nothing more important in life than friends and family. Make time to go pumpkin picking, take a trip to a corn maze, rake leaves and jump in the pile, or just curl up next to a fire, make smores, and reminisce. Plus, you can always join us at the Port for delicious food and wine, which make the end of any day just a little more special. Take care and remember to cherish life’s special moments each and every day. Warm Wishes from….Ed, Karen, Lee Ann, CJ, and All of your Port Edward Crew
