The Mobile World Lab is an evolution of the Urban Lab, and allows to combine efforts to continue it and attract international companies.

In 2008, with the 22 @ Barcelona Urban Lab project, the 22 @ Barcelona’s district waselevated as a place to test innovative solutions for companies wishing to implement in anyfield tests. This project was intended to help companies that were developing innovativeprojects that were in av pre-sales phase.
In 2013 borns the Mobile World Lab as an open laboratory in the field of mobility and SmartCity dedicated to test and validate services, devices and next generation networks in realenvironments in the whole city of Barcelona.
The Mobile World Lab offers companies the infrastructure of the city (streets, municipal buildings, services, etc.), to carry out their tests.
• Is NOT a test space for products orservices on the market or alreadybeing marketed.
• is NOT a test space for innovativeprojects that have no direct benefit buton the management of the City Councilor the public.
• It is NOT a way to finance innovativeprojects.
• Implies no commitment by the CityCouncil to implement long-termsolution tested in the Mobile WorldLab.
• It is a test space for those productsthat have a direct involvement in theoperation of the city or the servicesprovided by the City Council.
• It is a test space to accommodateprojects that provide benefits tocitizens and to resolve unresolvedneeds.
