Societal issues with pop culture • Popular culture is

not always accepted by the mainstream culture.

• Ex. early Rock N’ Roll in the 1950’s.

• Hip Hop– gangsta rap in early 1990’s

• Fashion– Miniskirt, bikini, baggy clothes

• Video Games– GTA series, first person shooters.

When does it loose it’s popularity.

• A fad or trend looses popularity when:

a. Population which accepts it grows older.

b. The fad or trend is complicated to keep doing.

c. It becomes a crime to follow.

d. The Icon has his/her popularity diminished.
